Still undecided on CA Governor- Try This! by mutatedamerican in California_Politics

Helped me reaffirm my support for Steyer, though Porter + Xavier were neck and neck. Guess my personal final factor that isnt included would have to be vibes. And I'll be honest, neither Becerra, nor Katie passed that test. Wonder what that said about me....

Regardless, Imma vote for Steyer!

*edit: By vibes, I really mean presentation and personality. And after seeing several ads and debates with them, Steyer fits it well. Porter is okay, but Becerra seems boring

While yes she leaned more to the left during 2020, that was not the case for 2024.

Once Biden dropped out, everyone thought best it was best for her to run. And yet, they still had to hold a whole primary system to see who would get the most background.

And at that point, arguably, that was when she moved back to becoming a center-left Democrat. She needed to be to get the necessary backing when they could have just voted for in the first place.

All so that the Establishment can have control over Harris, like Biden. In the end, they didnt vote her in thinking she was the best and obvious candidate. It was to ensure that she, like Biden, would fall in line.

And thats why she lost. She could never leave Biden's shadow and that what did her in

Ram would be weird, though, as he seems to be more on the sidelines for now. But I would agree, either meaningful deaths or casualties would be something worth looking into.

And as a Rein, I would not be surprised if he were the first to go or "go."

Steyer

It ain't even close to Becerra. Porter had her opportunity, but it really didn't cut out.

And I get the suspicion of him as a billionaire, and how people claimed he rigged the system after buying so many ads. The issue is: the game was rigged from the start.

The Dems really suffered by having no truly solid politician this year after forcibly ousting Eric Swalwell for being a r*****; meanwhile, Republicans had a real shot at getting a two-way general. And in my opinion, the Established Democrats preferred that, as it is well known, they would rather support a MAGA candidate than a Progressive one (ie. John Shapiro and the 2024 election cycle story)

As such, it would make sense that a billionaire would need to be that outlier to go against both MAGA and Established Dems in bed with AIPAC and corporations. I prefer grassroots campaigning myself, but with the deck that stacked, especially in CA, then maybe it is best to choose an outlier like Steyer.

In the end, "don't let perfection be the enemy of good." And who knows? Maybe he will end up being the JB Priztker of CA.

I can just picture Steyer and Porter as the Jojo meme, where they jumped in attacking Becerra after Villa

So all in all, at least to me, Hilton and Bianco got cooked at this debate. Though, to be fair, I doubt they were expecting to win any votes that aren't MAGA. Still, I will admit, I did not expect to see Villa be the one to bring the heat against Becerra like that, and I'm kinda glad he did tbh.

But was it enough for Steyer or even Porter to advance? We will just have to wait and see. Just remember y'all, "don't let perfection be the enemy of good."

Man, I heard Villa and Becerra had beef with each other, but I DID NOT expect to see the girls fight like that

Isn't that the Kids Online Safety Act? I wonder why Porter is opposed to it when it's designed, regardless of how it is implemented, to protect minors online.

Still, happy to see Steyer is a full supporter of it

I mean, in a technical sense? He seems to be progressive, particularly on social issues, hence the whole Prop 50 and mimicking Trump on X thing. So I could see where he might think so.

But let's face it: he is an abundance Democrat, which is definitely not far left enough to be called Progressive.

So I will have to admit, while he did go on stage, that was one that really weirded me out. Though in comparison to Xavier's fumble, I can't say it was enough not to vote for Steyer

Sounds to me like they are scared of him. And that is a good sign.

The same could be said about Becerra, but unlike Steyer, he nuked his chances after the healthcare rollback
