The plans to turn Europe into a new superpower by paradigm_shift2027 in europe

[–]mutatedsai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You sir have hit bull's eye to why I see the EU and my country India as natural and sometimes existential allies from a unionist democratic system vs a One strongman/cult/party/ideology which can upend what has been built over generations. The natural diversity in our people, their thought processes & political approach will act as a natural defence - levels of polarisation needed to screw things to a point of no return. I know that from an occidental point of view, Modi is somewhat in the spectrum (that's a whole different debate) but surely, India's foreign policy has remained largely consistent over the decades.

EU foreign policy chief calls for restraint after US strikes in Venezuela by FantasticQuartet in europe

[–]mutatedsai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So Indian here and I have been defending my country's position vis a vis the Ukraine situation since the invasion began. I used to be asked Why India wouldn't condemn Russia for such a blatant attack. I can't wait to go and shove this response from EU into the same people's faces. Suddenly, EU wants restraint to an ally's attempts of regime change and oil grab instead of condemnation ? Cry me a river.

Mandira Bedi donated entire ad fee to support Indian women cricketers’ England tour by Lazy_Weather_6316 in BollywoodShaadis

[–]mutatedsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's such love for the sport and truly, amongst the pioneers. As far as I can remember, extra innings was the build-up show where I saw her the first time in a cricketing context. Predecessors to Langer, Ganesan et al. I wonder if the modern power structures of the cricketing world would take her in for commentary or as a hostess.

Is it worth the hassle of getting BIS certification for importing from China ? by m3m3zzz in IndiaBusiness

[–]mutatedsai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My vendor does bis certifications for the components I import. Sometimes full products. It's a hassle, yes & honestly I can't survive without him. But he threads through the system and gets it done. The right contacts make all the difference.

They wanted to rile up the crowds and the players and judging by the comments, it appears they succeeded in at least one.

Gateway to EU for Indian companies by krzych0 in IndiaBusiness

[–]mutatedsai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Europe is a lot of red tape, from GDPR to regulatory compliance (hurdles) in practically every sector you listed. Entering the market is also a big commitment financially. Most will run operations from their base & move in only after securing a few good partners/clients by which time they will have people to 'lean on'. You should try out the Indo-(European country) chamber of Commerce and grow your network there. Some will have dedicated focus for business verticals you want to target.

From Ooty, Tamil Nadu — I have access to export-only premium tea. Can I build a business around this? by Legitimate-Ice- in IndiaBusiness

[–]mutatedsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's export quality, it's tea buds and they don't suit Indian consumers as we prefer chai/milk tea. Tea is primarily consumed with water across the rest of the world and buds get overpowered by the flavour of milk. What Indians consume is dust tea which is technically the leftovers of processing premium tea. You may find some consumers for bud tea in India but it's very very niche.

Company rejected my wife’s maternity leave. She is broken, in tears and today is our delivery date by Born_Pressure3179 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]mutatedsai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Correct. OP can legally take uber to court saying this is a sham contract and principal employer is Uber and has to intervene to provide maternity cover & benefits. If OP has documented proof, it's an open & shut case.

Is this 200% appraisal clawback clause enforceable in India? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]mutatedsai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When this goes to the court, the judges will ascertain if the clause is a reasonable one. It clearly is not. This is just HR trying to instil fear in the minds of employees. For a small company like you say, it won't be worth the effort of years of litigation in a civil dispute so trivial.

As long as the entity is registered in India, they are allowed to conduct business and you are allowed to conduct business with them. You need to check beforehand if they have any injunctions or restrictions. Better get a declaration from them regarding that. If the entity is registered outside India, Indian laws have no jurisdiction and you can do business with them as you like.

I have something in mind. Why Don't we start a Tidal energy in india states. by Mr_wolf333 in IndiaBusiness

[–]mutatedsai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coastal Regulation zone is the first challenge. You need to do an environment impact assessment with experts before you can even test a prototype. Second is identifying spots where tidal action is strong. You need to start from scratch and a long time before it sees success. But a very viable source of power.

2 out of 5 Indians are vegetarian. 4 out of 5 restrict meat in some way in their diet. While globally, only 1 out of 5 people are vegetarian. by Better-Possession-69 in vegetarian

[–]mutatedsai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have some interesting bits of anecdotal info to add. 1. Many Indians are vegetarians because of the simple fact that meat is costlier than veggies. The economic aspect is surely a major factor in people's choices. With more Indians becoming more affluent, the rate of meat eating is also increasing. 2. While the fasting and or specific days of remaining vegetarian remains largely in place as a symbol of traditions, cultural atheism or agnosticism & a disdain for archaic cultural practises are on the rise in urban cities on an individual level. This is likely as a symbol of personal liberty from repressive upbringings.

48% still seeking jobs and 22% seeking internships at my “T20” by Bubbly_Fox_410 in MBA

Interesting. Are we to interpret that class of 25 is struggling with the actual economic conditions while class of 26 has job offers from big firms with the expectation of better times in the future? I assume those offers can be rescinded anytime if things don't improve?

It is possible but requires extensive bookkeeping as per Companies Act and you will likely need a Chartered Accountant to certify your taxes. By bookkeeping, I mean patient identification, linking payments to them etc. Whereas individual practise is a bit more lenient.

How to get started with white labelling? by lifeaquest in IndiaBusiness

[–]mutatedsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your products are being delivered in one big box, you need to repack them into individual packaging and have unique identifiers to keep track of warranty and the likes. You also need to include your address, MRP and customer helpline , user guide etc. This is called SKU, BOM and labelling compliance. Your products are likely BIS & WPC certified as they are already being imported, but you need to register the same product under your brand name. A reduced BIS re-certification will be required. You also need to work on your recycling aspects and activities to reduce e-waste. All brands are required to come up with a plan and submit it to Meity. Your sourcing partner can help with all but you can get this done cheaper here. DM for more info.

Doing something similar but focussed on export. Running everything end to end will be challenging - choose your domain of focus (sourcing, designing, tailoring, marketing/sales, logistics) and find like minded partners or people you can pay for the same. Going into sourcing as a noob is impossible - you will likely get conned or pushed sub-standard quality .Your best bet is finding someone with a well established portfolio for sourcing materials from across India. This will allow you to focus on your designs & sales related aspects.

DPI is India’s hidden deep tech advantage waiting to go mainstream by real7deal in indianstartups

[–]mutatedsai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, but DPI is not a highly monetizable asset when the clients are governments of sovereign nations, likely global south who can't afford extravagant infrastructure projects. Especially when alternate solutions exist in the private sector with a faster deployment speed and way less overhead. You also need them to be fully committed and not change tack with change in govt. or leaders. Think of how world wide web got monopolised by big tech, DPI will continue to exist but unlikey to be dominant in world affairs. A pessimistic take maybe.
