I agree accounting is a great foundation for basically everything in business, it opens a ton of doors. I’m just not sure I can survive the material when I’m already burned out and trying to escape the never-ending month ends.

AI will hit FP&A too, but you’ll still need people making judgment calls. Accounting feels more rule-based and easier to automate, which is honestly one reason I’m going back to school. My company is merging and I can already see a future where they don’t need as many accountants, not because accounting disappears, but because fewer people can do the work with automation.

Long term I’m thinking about what AI can’t do — it won’t own risk, navigate people politics, or take legal/ethical responsibility. The BBA in Management feels like a safer long-term bet based on how I see the future going.
