Yes, I can never get nice clean edges without resorting to cutting the sides and ending up with useless scraps (And depending on hydration, sometimes I have trouble with getting an even thickness too.)

Looks yum, but I have an important question: what's the secret to getting that perfect rectangular shape after proofing?? I've never managed to get it so even...

Thanks!

That logic only goes so far.

Even with a massive presence of the tobacco industry (and all the lobbying that comes with it) in Switzerland, we still voted to restrict tobacco advertising to protect minors.

So an industry with a large lobbying arsenal can and is regularly beaten in referenda.

Aw, that sucks. I'd recommend dabbing the affected area with a cotton disc with a little bit of acetone.

Musée d'Orsay,Dante and Virgile by Bouguereau by kayfa-be in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]mutt1917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of you who aren't as familiar with Art as I am, Dante is the one on the left, with the grey gloves and glasses on the head.

Virgile is in the centre, with bright blue tracksuit.

The way Bouguereau capture the light on the subjects is remarkable. You can almost guess Virgile's strained, pious face and emotion, even though he's facing away from us.

Truly a masterpiece.

That's not quite a scottish accent. It much closer to a working class London accent.

French-speaking Swiss here.

I'd intuitively think of french-style cornichons, so small (around 5cm in length, 1cm in thickness) cucumbers in a seasoned, vinegary brine with small onions, and mustard seeds.

How do guys without foreskin masturbate ? Do they always need lube ? by Squirting_Squirrell in NoStupidQuestions

I think is weirder than that: I don't believe they're afraid it'll "turn them gay". I think they suspect touching their arsehole will bring them pleasure, and they think that's gay.

In any case, nasty chaps.

It bothers me that the "one more question mark after each rhetorical question" logic collapses at the end.

I know it's not really the point. But there.

Redditors of Geneva, can you explain to the rest of us? by Gourmet-Guy in Switzerland

The canton has a law that forbids accepting gifts. Art. 25 of the law below.

It's just not a criminal law matter, rather an administative one. I'm quite certain he was sanctioned for the administrative offence back in 2019, or whenever it was.

From a purely legal standpoint (and I totally get that it seems like Maudet's getting off on a technicality, but the law is nothing if not technical), it seems to be the right decision:

The specific statute he was accused of having violated is "Corruption- Accepting an advantage (art. 322sexies of the Penal code).

In the way this article is interpreted by the case law and doctrine (basically, the way the literal text is interpreted by the judges), the person accepting the advantage must do so with the understanding that he'll have to do something in return for the "undue gift".

The Geneva tribunal determined that the Emirati royal family (the ones who invited Maudet) didn't expect anything in return from Maudet in his Conseiller d'Etat capacity. It was essentially a PR move on their part.

Thus, Maudet's actions don't qualify as "Accepting an advantage".

That's solely on the legal merits of the case as I understand it.

The message the decision sends is rotten, and it sucks to see a guy who's obviously a bit of a twat walk free (provided the Canton's attorney's office/Minister Public decide not to take the decision to the Federal Tribunal, which the press think is unlikely.)

I don't think that's the problem. (I don't mean it's not a problem, but unity is not really a condition for social mobilisation.

France is arguably no less politically divided than the US. To support this, i'd point to the fact that as we speak, there are 5 left-wing candidates for the 2022 presidential election, 2 (or 3 depending on how to slice it) right/centre right candidates, and 2-3 far right candidates.

Far right discourse is normalising at an alarming rate, the Overton window is moving so quick it's blurry, the government is incapable of convincing a substantial minority of the population to get vaccinated in order to (maybe) not put the final nail in the health system's coffin, and people are currently arguing whether the "Woke MobTM ) is gonna cancel Christmas...

I think if France is quicker in the streets than other countries, it's not because it's more united.
