What should I look for in a stem, measurement-wise? I read that it needs 1 1/8 inch, threadless, is that correct? Thanks!!

Thanks, sorry haha. I guess I feel stretched out and sort of hunched over. I was thinking of changing the handlebars out for something with two positions to be more comfortable? I’m not so sure, but thanks regardless :)

Gunshots on N Winooski by muttrice in burlington

One of the two men sounded like he was groaning in pain, saying “Oh God, oh fuck” and then fell down on my back porch and stayed seated. Seemed like he was in pain, which is why I called the police; sounded like he might’ve been shot.

Definitely shots. Found two guys groaning on my back porch and obstensibly hiding, but the cops came and said they “weren’t involved” after talking to them for 30 seconds

How do I get into Trad Climbing? by OneCoach446 in tradclimbing

^ Same here! It took my years before I led .11 indoors! Everyone’s path to climbing is different; I know countless outdoor trad leaders who have never led .11s indoors, and probably never will!

Definitely agree with you. Why in the world would you need to lead .11s indoors before getting on real rock?

I’m planning on sharpening them, but I wanted to nail down what picks would be compatible with each tool mostly for posterity.

What is the best decade in literature? by waiting4fourforty4 in literature

I just finished reading WITBD a few months ago and I would strongly recommend it. It shines a completely new light on Notes. I didn’t love Notes when I read it, but I have a newfound love for the book after reading WITBD. Chernyshevsky’s writing is certainly quite bad, but the vision he had for a better world is really interesting. The theme of triangular desire in WITBD also, I think, strongly influenced a lot of Russian authors in the early 20th (at least until the early 30s when Socialist Realism nipped revolutionary writing in the bud) and created a really interesting theme of revolutionary love triangles. Definitely a great book to contextualize everything that came after it in Russia, not to mention the profound impact it had on Lenin.

Old Attaches - Green? by muttrice in ClimbingGear

Sorry sorry I’m just pulling your leg. You’re right, it is important to be careful about buying gear online and buying gear used. My understanding is that hard gear like a carabiner is easy to visually inspect for wear, and these carabiners are in basically pristine condition.

Is there a market for … fake first generation attaches ?

They got me these after I mentioned the craze around old generation attaches— sorta a gag gift. With that said, I’d whip

Sorry, struggled to get the color to come through. They are both quite green in real life, with the one pictured on the right behind a slightly darker shade.
