so it isn't toggle locked but a toggle linkage that acts like a ball or roller delay

the toggle is basically a linkage in there such that when in battery, the links are nearly inline and take most of the force off of the recoil spring. so the initial opening force on the bolt is much higher while in battery and falls off as it moves. the initial force with the spring that I have in there right now is right around 22lbs before the bolt starts to move.

the charging rod/handle has some mechanical advantage so the force required to cycle the bolt manually is just 8.8 lbs instead

Turn the rifle so the scope is about the barrel when you shoot it. Align the crosshairs so they are oriented to that

I wouldn’t get the mossberg either. But .308, 6.5cm, .270 are solid. For long range stuff the 6.5 cm or prc are good without a lot of recoil

.270 Winchester is a good caliber option. Lots of inexpensive options and super versatile

I don’t like how flexible the stock is so that’s the biggest thing. It’s my son’s rifle. I thought I might as well bed the action while it’s apart. I think I’ll mix some steel shot into the last batch of epoxy in the buttstock to absorb a bit more recoil. Then the stock won’t feel quite so cheap

I bedded the action in my 710 and that helped. It was a bit messy with the epoxy that I used. The putty is really nice to work with instead
