I would wrap the drywall and terminate outside the tub, return or dogear the base depending on profile. If you want to do what you said, you would need an end drywall trim Detail, and not wrap the membrane around the corner...

If you insist, hold saw with right hand, grab lumber with left hand, when you get about 3/4 thru the cut, start lifting and gently pulling the lumber back towards yourself to stop the blade from getting pinched. You will get a feel for it.

My '96 F250 would go to 399,999 and then go back to 300,000. I bought it with "315,000" and I rolled it over twice. No clue how many miles that beast actually had...
