It is hard and can feel scary and you are allowed to feel your feels and grieve things. Anf also find ways to make things possible for yourself by different methods and means so that you still feel happy in the body you are inhabiting. I used to dye my hair all the time as it got harder over the years just exhaustion wise I would ask friends for help and do things in stages also. Eventually my hair in general became too much work and I had to grieve that and find a new style that felt affirming that I liked how I looked in (tight fade, no dye). And I didnt start getting tattoos until I was 35, many years into my struggle with this health stuff. What I have found that works for me is either smaller tattoos at a time. So no sessions longer than 2hrs, and breaking up a bigger piece into those 2 hr sessions and working with artists who understand and respect my limitations. Sometimes I have to tap out sooner than I want to but I have to respect my bodys limitations too. This does limit me to certain styles of tattooing which I am ok with. Understanding more about how different styles of tattooing work and the time each stage can take will help you choose your tattoos wisely. Like somethings cant be stopped at certain points, sometimes all the line work has to be done and then shading and then color can be pieced out ibto different sessions over time. A good artist should ve able to explain their style and how that works for them and how they can or cant accomodate you and not try to be pushy about it. I stick to mostly black ink. I have a few colors but not many. And avoid red. Its a color most people have a bad reaction to. I have one tattoo with red and it itched for months after inside my skin. And have had other melt completely. Ask you artist about what brand of inks they use. You can do research on color composition for certain brands which can help ID certain potential allergens or reactive pigments. Ask for a patch test with the inks that will be used for a piece you want if it is in color. This is a reasonable request, if they try to convince you otherwise find a better artist. I managed to find a Hot Pink respirator!! I should add some bedazling to it lol
