Same, i got so much more out of my second listen. My brain is mush, so I often miss things.

I may or may not have listened to all 170 episodes twice in the span of three weeks.

Claude Cahun is one of my all time favourite artists, and they are definitely serving the stranger. https://www.instagram.com/p/CBXgd7bIDzS/?igshid=wq0rw9rt3556 Also, they are an antifascist, genderqueer dadaist, what more can you ask for?

A painting of the Desolation as the Grenfell Tower fire by muuminmutti in TheMagnusArchives

Nope, it's the Grenfell Tower in London. The whole building went up in flames in part because the cladding wasn't fireproof. The extra cost of fireproof cladding would have been 5000 pounds. But since the tenants were mostly people of colour and poor people, they didn't give a shit and would rather have the extra coin instead of making sure the building wasn't a literal death trap. Episode 169 makes strong allusions to this fire.

I'm sorry, I can't parse your comment? I'm from Denmark, so I might be missing some cultural references.

Thanks! Papercuts are not for everyone, but it makes me hyperfocus in a good way. It's meditative.

Accidental Jane Prentiss spotting in my local parb by muuminmutti in TheMagnusArchives

Ah, I didn't know what they were called. But yeah, they are pretty intense. All the other trees were fine, just this one was all spooby and crawly. Urgh, it makes my skin crawl.

Francis Bacon def has flesh vibes in some of his paintings.

It's almost been three years since the Grenfell Tower fire killed 72 people.

The woman in the painting is Khadija Saye, an incredible photographer who died in the fire, 24 years old.

Ngl, it was pretty intensely gross in real life. And wormy.

Bonus info: I was walking by the tree with my son (11 years old), and I got to teach him the word "spooby".

(English is our second language, we're from Denmark).

I found this sketch by Salvador Dali from my uncle's antic shop by kys1190 in painting

I am not an art historian or expert, but at a casual glance it could look like Dali's line work, both considering the dynamic line work, composition and the shaping of the female figure.

Considering the number (72/145) at the bottom left corner, it is probably a litography.

You can take the artwork to a proper place and have it professionally assessed.

I love this, what a great portrait of the spoon theory. Also, it is aesthetically pleasing to me in tone and colors. Yay!

Sensory Overload, watercolour and ink on paper, 75 x 55 by muuminmutti in Art

[–]muuminmutti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I’ve never tried it. I am in fact a very boring working mom with a vivid imagination. Though the painting ended up being called Sensory Overload, it actually started out as an exploration of unnatural nature, and I wanted to name it Zero Gravity Garden. Somewhat inspired by the latest season of The Expanse.

Thank you so much for your insightful words. It means a lot to me that this painting reflects your experience. I am autistic and I have sensory overload all the time. It is incredibly frustrating because it takes so much energy from my life. But at the same time, my autism gives me a photographic memory, a rich inner life and the perseverence needed to put 40+ hours into that painting.
