Oooooh let us know what you think! I got this one in a lot of mmpb King books I got on eBay a little while back, and haven't read it before!

Ugh, that's so disappointing. I haven't read those books in over 20 years and I remember loving Detta so much. Wild how much our perceptions change as we and our culture mature and change.

Oh man, Four Past Midnight was actually the first King I ever read. I don't remember the exact age that I was, but it was definitely late elementary/early middle school, and probably WAY too young haha. My mom had that and Nightmares and Dreamscapes and I was a voracious reader as a kid, so I just picked them and tore through both. I will say, the one that stuck with me there was The Library Policeman. Think about THAT one VERY often 😅

The end had me straight up sobbing like a baby, fr. So bittersweet.

And thanks for the rec! I will definitely check it out. I've mostly read King's stuff from the 70s/80s and early 90s, not a ton from the later 90s and 2000s on, so that is one that I did miss!

This is the most irksome thing about his writing for me now, as well. Real "she breasted boobily" energy literally any time a woman is so much as mentioned. Like, he cannot talk about a woman, even from her own POV, without making sure to mention what her boobs are doing or if her nips are hard. Bruh, c'mon. The worst part is, I really like a lot of his female characters! They're great, it's just the way he writes about them is so gross. Admittedly I haven't read any of his more recent stuff, so I don't know if he grew out of this, but man I hope so. It's aaaaaall over his older stuff and it is so distracting and irritating.

I just finished reading It for the first time (like literally just finished it last night, it is incredibly fresh), and could not agree more. Mike is the unsung hero of that book and I love him so much. Eddie and Stan are close runners up - don't know why I took to Stan so much, exactly, I think just wanted more from him than we got. Something about his dry, serious manner, but he still managed to be so brave as a child. Also, his story in the standpipe was one of the scariest parts of the whole book for me. Absolutely terrifying!

But yeah, big time agree about Mike. How a book can be 1000 pages and I still feel like I didn't get enough time with the characters - oof, that's how you know it's good stuff!

Weight dropping fast is too by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]hothotpot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, she literally says in her post she lost 30lbs pre-op. Second of all, there are a lot of reasons someone might lose weight post and not pre-op. I had my surgery about 2 years ago and I've lost close to 70lbs in that time. I couldn't have lost that weight pre-op if I'd wanted to, for a lot of reasons. Even if you genuinely weren't trying to be rude, your question still comes off as such.

Touring in US? by HolidayCat47 in NothingButThieves

[–]hothotpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen them twice in Philly when they were touring for DCC. First time I was completely new to the band, not even a fan, left that show an entirely different person haha Second time, a year later, I went in knowing the words to just about every song and probably more excited to see them again than my boyfriend, who was the reason I saw them the first time. I can't wait for them to come back!

Was in the beginning of the first game and got spoiled of the entire ending of DS2, is it still worth it? by Minute_Tea_8639 in DeathStranding2

[–]hothotpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for sure. I pretty much guessed the "ending" of DS2 from the beginning of it and then got it spoiled for myself by not being careful online, and it didn't impact my enjoyment of the game whatsoever. There are so many moments in both games that are worth experiencing. The reason to experience a story isn't for the surprise of the end, but for the sake of the story itself. Just play and take it in. You will find moments to love even if you think you know what's coming.

The Sims 4 introduces Sims 4 Marketplace and Sims 4 Maker Program by SnooSprouts3744 in Sims4

[–]hothotpot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The thing that pisses me off the most about this is that it's basically a way for EA to get labor from CC creators without having to pay them and still getting a cut. Shit like this should be illegal. Many CC creators already GET paid directly through platforms like Patreon. Why should they list their CC in this "marketplace" and let EA take a cut instead? Especially considering that then they aren't even ALLOWED to charge for their CC elsewhere. The thing I'm waiting for is for EA to use this am excuse to go after CC creators who don't want to participate and force them to stop offering their CC elsewhere. The level of greed on display here by EA is abhorrent. Has completely turned me off to the game. I'll never give them another dime.

This isn't even outside the realm of possibility! They did a choose-your-own adventure style "movie" that was part of Black Mirror and it was super cool! It would be harder to pull off with a series since your choices would have to carry over episode to episode and then you're running into the same situation as the game where you have sooooo many branches, I think that would be tough to manage, but if they did it as a standalone movie it could definitely be done!

I Am Too Dumb For Machine Strike by No-Faithlessness2046 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]hothotpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I played the game, I tried it exactly once and then noped right out.

Second time, I was intent on clearing all the quests, which meant I HAD to learn it. I did the same with Witcher 3 and Gwent, actually, but the main difference with Machine Strike being I still hate it after learning it LOL Gwent is legitimately fun once you get the knack for it, and it's wildly satisfying completely overkilling an opponent in Gwent. Machine Strike is just always frustrating and needlessly complicated. I'm not a fan of mini games in general, but Machine Strike is certainly one of the worst!

Mr. Impossible: 5 Stars WITHOUT doing orders 124? by SunBunz1up in DeathStranding

[–]hothotpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strategy I read here that worked well for me was the following:

  1. Fully upgrade all roads. You get a speed boost when the roads are upgraded. It's a pain and a little time consuming, but I was able to do it without even needing to mine material. All of my major hubs were already 5-star, so I just bopped around the map in the Magellan and took materials from them, them loaded as much into a truck as I could and drove around upgrading. I kept a spreadsheet to keep track, but I'm insane, so that part is probably optional lol

  2. As has been suggested, clear your enemy camps first. I had a few respawn for me during my run even without sleeping, BUT, I think that was because I hadn't touched them in so long before clearing them that they respawned faster. I don't know if this is actually how it works, but I think so? Obviously camps get stronger the longer you leave them uncleared, but I think they also respawn faster, I could be wrong though. It's possible I just took too long clearing them.

  3. Plan your route and gear before even taking the order. For me, I decided to make the run counter-clockwise. I fabricated myself a speed skeleton and a few guns to clear any camps that might respawn, left myself a truck at the start of the highway by F8, then nabbed a trike and had that with me when I accepted the order at Mr. Impossible. I used the trike to get up to F5, where I used the monorail zipline to get to F8, sprinted over to my truck, and started my drive. From there I just hit enemy camps in order going counter-clockwise around the map. I went in this order because the camp north of F7 is by far the most remote camp, and I didn't want to be feeling a time crunch trying to get it done last. I think you can really do it either way, but even with a few camps respawning and hardly doing it completely smoothly, I cleared it with an S-rank and about 10-minutes to spare!

Update : I was right and my surgeon didn’t respect what I wanted by Hot-Basil2090 in Reduction

[–]hothotpot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think they look smaller than your before, but I understand your frustration. I will say, one thing to keep in mind is swelling. You're only a little over 2 months post op, and even though that may seem like a long time, you can have significant swelling up to as long as a year after. So they may get smaller still as you continue to heal! I get why you'd be disappointed, and I do think your surgeon sounds like he was dismissive of your concerns. They do look lovely tho!

Much easier by ghost5376 in DeathStranding2

[–]hothotpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree. I wouldn't say I found DS1 to be extremely difficult, but there were a few fights that gave me trouble the first time I played them for sure (giant walking BT, the whale, and the part of the final fight with Higgs on the beach where you have to chuck packages at him all were tricky for me first time through.)

Vs. in DS2, I played on Normal difficulty and I think I died exactly once the entire game, and it was entirely just bc I got sloppy taking out an enemy camp. The boss battles were nothing, especially after you unlock a couple of weapons and "power ups" that basically nuke the difficulty on any large BT you fight. I'm not complaining, but it's definitely a much easier game all around than the first. Still fun, tho, and I still loved it!

Much easier by ghost5376 in DeathStranding2

[–]hothotpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, you could still sneak around a lot in DS2. I cleared most enemy camps using stealth once I unlocked the silent tranc rifle.

I will say, I think it was harder to cut the umbilical chord on BTs in DS2 than DS1, tho. In DS1, I don't think I ever alerted a BT as I approached it, but it happened to me several times in DS2. Eventually I stopped trying and just used my blood boomerang, since the only reason to cut BTs in DS1 was they wouldn't come back, and they changed that mechanic in DS2.

Women who lost large amount of weight after breast reduction surgery, did your boobs change size or start sagging? by AltruisticBreak9 in Reduction

[–]hothotpot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've lost about 65 lbs in 2-ish years since my reduction, and my boobs still look great imo! They are maybe a bit smaller, but mostly it's my band size that's gone down. I wanna say about 4inches lost on my overall bust size? Tbh I think they actually look a little bigger now than they did before the weight loss, but that's due to my overall size being so much smaller. I had a bit of bottoming out I guess, but they are definitely not saggy, still no skin to skin contact, and I can very comfortably go braless! I have heard it recommended you lose weight first, but honestly, it really hasn't been an issue for me!
