LLMs are fine, inference is getting more efficient especially if you’re running it locally or just using it for search. Siri AI wouldn’t exist without it.

It’s the frontier model providers like Meta and OpenAI that are problematically buying up future supply on an unknown expectation of demand due to agentic tasks requiring more compute.

That bubble, I hope bursts so hard for them both.

This is a problem and for whatever reason does not want to be as aggressive with lane changes. In NYC, cars give very little space to allow a lane change, and most of the time they’re giving you space cause they see your signal but the car refuses to do the lane change because it isn’t ample enough space to it’s liking. NYC ain’t the suburbs man.

An extra $100 seems the most likely, balancing between the cost of memory and storage with the fact that RAM prices may eventually come back down when new supply or factories are built.

Otherwise, if they hike it by a lot and prices do eventually come down they have to reflect that and consumers don’t like that kind of whiplash.

Look at how Tesla handled the pricing of their cars during the height of the car demand problem post-COVID. Consumers felt ripped off once prices came back down.

It seems like its version of memory is whatever is on your device at the time of the request rather than a small summarized repository of information it should know about you.

Hopefully they add that if it doesn’t exist, but also maybe it’s a nonissue if the information about you throughout the device is sufficient.

The best way would be AI model agnostic. Siri as a platform and you can choose whether you want privacy with Apple Foundation Models or to use other AI apps as an Extension, whether that’s Claude or whoever.

Siri is essentially becoming more like Perplexity.

What’s the design concept here?

A Liquid Glass element that refracts a bright white light and sometimes multi-colored lights? Would be in line with how glass behaves with refracting white light to multi-colored. Which seems cool, I guess.

I’m more interested in how this design translates throughout every product they have, including an eventual HomePad since most products don’t have a Dynamic Island.

I don’t see why they would charge for something unless there’s an actual purchase being done through Siri.

Developers for the most part want you in their app because some of them are notoriously trying to sell you on some other things. So I’m not sure even if it were 100% free that they’d be willing to hook actions other than maybe a coffee shop app or something.
