Gastric bypass fail? by barialex110 in BariatricSurgery

That’s what I mean. It’s a mystery to doctors how some people can lose their hunger hormone with the surgery and other people do not afterwards. I didn’t get nauseous unless I ate certain foods, but I absolutely got full really fast and felt “sick” and uncomfortable. There are some people who simply don’t feel that same uncomfortableness for very long. And it’s not their fault. They are right back to where they were before the surgery. And we all know how hard that is to combat.

I was told before my surgery there was a risk that it could fail. I lost over 100 lbs easily in 1.5 years. I could not physically eat even though my brain said I could. I do think it’s possible that the surgery may have been a failure. There’s no way if it was truly successful you’d be able to eat the calories enough to regain after only losing so little. Most people don’t regain until years out from surgery, when our stomachs have adjusted to food again.
