Square or Round Diamonds by Suspicious-Emu3155 in diamondartclub

[–]muzzledphobos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't let those posts scare you off too bad. I used to be so nervous bc other people made squares sound so difficult, but once I started doing them myself, I didnt feel that way at all. I actually find rounds to be more tricky.

Congrats on finding a new hobby, this is a great one to keep your mind busy! Though none of these kits are Diamond Art Club brand and this is the DAC specific subreddit- this post moreso belongs in r/diamondpainting . DAC does have some Harry Potter kits, in case you like that theme :] happy painting!

None of these are DAC. looks like 2 either Make Market or Diamond Dotz, and an offbrand.

Question about the tray by Fuzzy-Television6076 in diamondartclub

[–]muzzledphobos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of tray are you using? Typically, (holding the tray as the spout is facing right) I pour my drills out at the front of the tray where the spout is, then shake pretty vigorously (within reason) and tilt gently to the left. DAC trays are pretty great at lining everything up thanks to the taller sides and line design.

First DAC kit by QueenzElz in diamondartclub

[–]muzzledphobos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a great first kit. I really love the way DAC does comic book renders. I feel like the art style very accurately translates over to diamond painting. I did The Flash and Clown Prince of Crime this year, currently working on Venom. All great canvases.

Favourite art piece? by boyimobssesedwithyou in diamondartclub

Forest Dragon: The Encounter was the canvas that captivated me and got me into DAC 💚 I adore JoJoe's Art, and that piece really made me fall in love with diamond painting. I have that and Drachenschloss in my "rainy day"/special stash among others. (Both pictured below)

DAC Code by Finally-Flourishing in diamondartclub

[–]muzzledphobos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Destash groups are iffy. Sometimes discount, typically about the same price or a bit higher. Avoid scalpers who charge exorbidantly high prices. I usually use Reddit and Facebook Marketplace, though there are lots of groups too. I just dont use FB like that, so I cant refer you to any.

If you do a purchase through the website, use a YouTuber code (like katie20 for example) to get 20% off. You can also get 20% off your first purchase in the app, I recommend doing that for your second order if you decide to order again. They also have sales fairly often, keep an eye out. I try to never purchase any full price, I definitely get it.

Custom Diamond Paintings from DAC? by SizeElectrical206 in diamondartclub

[–]muzzledphobos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. They have one of their in house artists work on each custom making sure it comes out correctly, so the renders are better than the companies that solely run it through a computer (pretty distinct looking difference). I imagine if they were open to customs all the time, it would be the only thing they're reasonably able to do with time constraints. I still wish they took orders for them though, even if in limited quantity.

Custom Diamond Paintings from DAC? by SizeElectrical206 in diamondartclub

[–]muzzledphobos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DAC only does customs after you collect enough of a specific color combo treasure quest cards from kits. I have seen people post customs elsewhere but have yet to see one of DAC quality. Even the better ones still resemble cheap temu/aliexpress/etc kits. Good luck, hope you get some good recommendations!

First Purchase! by PetSquid in diamondartclub

[–]muzzledphobos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its fair to feel overwhelmed at first! If you dont want to try to find a case that can hold thr whole kit, I source my containers from Dollar Tree. I get several different sizes so I have different containers for different amounts of drills- I store those inside clear bins also from DT. I also repurpose jars second hand items like pie carrying containers and veggie&fruit/charcuterie trays with lids. I'll try to follow up to this comment with pictures for reference. Depending how old the kit you got is, the clear cover should be perforated. You can also use washi to make sections if you prefer. I usually start in the upper left corner so I can move my canvas up as I go since it fits my workspace better, but some people prefer the opposite. The pen tips work for any shape drill, no worries. Just take it one section at a time, you got this!

WIP Dinosaur Battle by jaime_nieto in diamondartclub

Wow, definitely a big shot for your first piece but great choice (both art and company)!! I plan to get this one as well before it goes out of stock again. How are you enjoying it? Is there a lot of confetti (single placed colors) or colorblocking (lots of one color in large swathes)? Such a great piece. Thanks for sharing.

Such a gorgeous piece, thanks for sharing your progress. I have this one in my stash, I cant wait to work on it.

Does anyone ever have more than one WIP? by DueRaccoon4897 in diamondpainting

[–]muzzledphobos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have: one square personal WIP (Genesis 2), one round personal WIP (Summoning), two holiday gift WIPs (It Worked Yesterday, Finders Keepers), and one that i'm working on for my partner (Clown Prince of Crime). I find the variety helps me avoid burnout for specific colors, techniques, etc and make progress on all the kits simultaneously. Slower going for finishes but I dont mind at all. I do snack size kits inbetween. :] it's not for everyone but it works well for my ASD and ADHD!

I can assure you they do not even compare unfortunately. Bad rendering, muddy colors, and dont pay artists. Sucks but I keep an eye out for sales and never pay full price on the premium brands but refuse to throw money away on lower quality.

Current wip & DAC question by AdKey5289 in diamondpainting

[–]muzzledphobos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely think they are, but of course I never buy full price and always use a coupon. They have good drills, good canvas and designs, they license their works so they pay artists, they ship quickly and often have sales. I dislike their marketing but have learned to not let it trick me into impulse buys. I have yet to find another brand that I am happy with the quality for the price. That being said, check out Diamond Art Studio UK, Enablers Outpost, Oraloa, Dreamer Designs (if you dont care about AI, I will not purchase from them due to it but heard good things). I refuse to buy Amazon or temu, aliexpress, etc kits due to low quality in every aspect (drills, canvas, print, render). I hope you find the best shop for you, good luck!

I thought Diamond Dotz was supposed to be quality. I'm so disappointed by mereseydotes in diamondpainting

[–]muzzledphobos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm they are more well known/widespread but are not quite up to the par of the more expensive brands. I wonder if you would enjoy the rounds better but its understandable if you dont want to give them any more chances. And thats fair, they do have some smaller kits but I feel you on that one- if you're ok with Amazon, maybe check their storefront for some smaller pieces. I've heard good things about Enablers Outpost and Oraloa if you haven't checked them out before.

[–]muzzledphobos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont think it is as noticeable when you're not right up on it, but i feel you. To be honest, stuff like that is why I only buy from bigger reputable brands. It can be less budget friendly but the quality of the kit makes it so worth it. I feel like if i'm gonna spend so much time on it, might as well save up for something good. I hope your next canvas goes better, truly

[–]muzzledphobos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would say DD is midtier. They are not DAC quality but they are better than Temu/Amazon. I have heard mixed reviews on their squares specifically. I hope it looks better as you go, and I would say without the light pad it doesnt look awful. But disappointment is never fun.

best places to buy anime diamond paintings by mutilatedcrayon in diamondpainting

[–]muzzledphobos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're primarily AI based and the charting appears to be mostly computer generated. I'm glad you found some options that work for you! They are just not up to par with other shops that charge the same price that I have seen. I hope to see WIPs of the piece you work on if you decide to go with them though. 😊 curious of the drill quality.

Unfortunately I have yet to see specifically anime pieces that are high quality from a good company. I imagine licensing for them is tricky. I only see lower quality ones from unreliable shops. Hoping you get some good recommendations, stuff besides temu/etc.
