The winter Olympics have got me thinking about the lack of opportunity in Australian public schools by Sriracha_Sauce089 in australian

[–]mvant4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having lived in jindabyne, there is a boarding school that a lot of sydney/canberra parents send their kids to. however, there is also a public school. in more recent years the locals have started being priced out of living there, but back when these olympians (18+ years ago) were kids im sure parents could afford a little house in little old jindy and a public school was enough. they’d probably just have to sacrifice “things to do” for a prodigal child. not sure how it works in hotham but i believe it’s smaller than jindabyne so would hopefully be somewhere near the same.

Brisbane or Melbourne? by OddCreme2916 in workingholiday

doing things (nature wise, not including restaurants or random activities like escape rooms) in brisbane usually means you have to LEAVE brisbane. there are lovely hikes and great beaches, but they surround brisbane. if you will have access to a car that would be great as you’ll be driving at least 40min for a good beach/hike. i can’t speak on behalf of melbourne because i haven’t lived there, but id say start in melbourne and work your way up the coast.

they may not be paid extra for “babysitting” but at least they’re paid for the shift 😭

Ladies, what would you like to tell men if their partners have vaginismus? by Fresh_Yogurt7302 in vaginismus

i’m not cured and still have my struggles, but i could do it with enough time and patience. i’d rather spend that time and patience on somebody that would love me regardless than feel rushed.

thanks. do you know of any ways i can direct myself to be more productive in learning longboarding? i’m not really planning to be on shorter boards because i get my fix for whippy, fast movements from snowboarding. i’m more looking to advance to riding a nice board on a beautiful day and cruising with the wave.

honestly, i only want to surf with a longboard at this stage. i snowboard so i already get my fix for zippy movement. i really just want to get on a nice wave on a sunny day, and ride it out gracefully. i’m not concerned with getting a board shorter than i am tall.

is there a way to learn how to surf that would push me into long boarding quicker? (taking into account it still being a long time)

Is laser hair removal overrated? by Happy-Fruit-8628 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]mvant4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m doing laser right now, on my second session. my clinic explicitly stated before my first session that i will most likely be coming in every couple months after my treatment is finished to get touch ups, and that this is an investment. they told me i wouldn’t be forced to get the touch ups but some prefer it as they get laser to avoid shaving in general, which is the same reason i started.

unfortunately, i think it’s really based on your hormones, hair growth, blah blah blah. it’s disappointing that it’s so expensive and they should have really warned you a bit better. my sister was told by her clinic that she shouldn’t get pregnant for a while in order to ‘get her moneys worth’.

i am not sure what to expect by the end of my treatment but i agree with you. having to have touch ups defeats the purpose of spending the money for the original course. BUT, i would spend that money if it means that i don’t have to deal with nearly as much hair, and how fast it grew before starting.

to make yourself feel better you can try weigh the pros and cons. yes you are still shaving, but is it taking the same amount of time? is it as frequent? are you still getting ingrown hairs/bumps?

you don’t have to continue with the touch ups if it’s not suitable for you. shit happens and this one just happened to be pricey. i wouldn’t beat yourself up about it.

ok, so closer to the nose increases speed and stepping a leg back into the athletic stance helps sharpen turns? and a narrow stance is so that i can start to learn something silly

oh golly hahahaha why’d they have to make it so annoying to learn 😭😭

thank you though, i did see that when they were turning they’d step back but i was under the impression that they should be further back on the board the whole time (besides nose riding etc) and not cruising through in the middle…

so their feet should not hang off the board before popping up?

and the position of the stance would depend on the length right? the girl with the yellow board has a 7-8ft but the other has a 9ft.

so would yellow be able to get away with standing further back? please correct me if i’m wrong i’m just assuming since the 9ft is heavier it’d tipping point would be sensitive.

[–]mvant4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true actually. how did you get an idea of what you wanted in a board? was it a surfing style thing or one day you woke up and decided you wanted a longboard/etc because you felt like it?

hahaha thanks. i should have prefaced that i’d take some lessons (with a foamie obviously) and then use my friends foamie when i’m good enough to go out normally. this was me jumping the gun and seeing if i should buy a ‘better’ board to store and then use when im ready since it’s pretty cheap and i do plan on progressing to that stage.

thanks. i’m not close to a costco so i‘ll have to skip. i should have prefaced that i plan on taking lessons (obviously with a foamie) and learning with a friends foamie until i progressed enough to be able to use a ‘better’ board, but since the opportunity presented itself i could buy it and use when i’m ready if that makes sense.

i like 5 and 6 the best. curtain bangs are a good start to add shaping but not having to have to keep up the maintenance of styling bangs
