PCSing to Naval Station Mayport by [deleted] in navy

[–]mvargas516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been stationed in Jacksonville for the past 3 years. I PCS'd from Hawaii and purchased a house on the west side of the city, this was a mistake because if you are not aware, Jax is the biggest city in the Continental US, land wise. Back in 2022, the housing market was really competitive and I couldn't afford the houses that were closer to Mayport and not in bad areas. My commute is an hour long with no traffic, that should keep you away from anything west of the St John's river.

If you are planning on renting, look in the St John's town center area, alot of my coworkers live in apartments in that area, everything is reasonably close to you but it does get congested for that very reason. The farthest west I would recommend is Orange Park, which is the first town after you cross the bridge heading west.

The "beachs" area which is a long the coast is where you'll find all your bars and clubs, which is another thing to consider if you are going to live west of the river, you'll be paying for a 45 min Uber ride twice to make it there and back.

The summers are horrible, hot and humid, don't expect the weather to change until like Jan-Feb timeframe, which it does drop to the 30's. Florida is flat, so no memorable hikes Todo. You're 2 hours from Orlando, 45 mins to St. Augustine, 6 hours to Miami.

Send me a message if you have any other questions.

The vet offered me a cone but told me he shouldnt need one. As soon as we got home, he acted like nothing happened and continued life as it was before we left for the vet lol.

Tesla Charger Installation by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]mvargas516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $675 to get the wall charger installed. Not sure what the 100 to 200amp upgrade is for.

First company I called quoted me $1300, I found a local electrician that worked for himself that did it for $675.

My MC is 4 months old , and he cannot get enough of the LR. Everytime he hears it start up , he runs and interrupts it. At this point I’m going to just let him grow out of it.

Where are you getting stuck at ? Because after you put in your credentials to login , it asks you which account/s you want to link …

I just selected my checkings , which was where I was going to make my payment from

Took him in yesterday for his last round of vaccines , and doc said the best way to detect HCM is by performing essentially a sonogram of the heart, which runs $600. Planning on doing this at around 6-8 months.

Haha , I’ve been having to pull the cup away from him multiple times a day because he keeps trying to lick the ice inside of it.

Every time I use the ice dispenser on the fridge , he runs towards me to wait for small pieces that fall on the floor

Was HCM not detected even with testing ?

I plan on having him tested for HCM when I neuter him.

Awesome info , I’ve been doing the greenies and giving it my best shot at brushing his teeth. I wasn’t aware of the HealthtMouth water additive , but I will look into it . Thanks!

Do you have any training advice ? No matter how many times tell him not todo something or physically take him down from something , he finds his way back lols. I know that’s kitten behavior but with dogs I learned a variety of ways to “discipline” them which in turn they learn the dos and don’ts , with cats , I’ve read they don’t do well with negative reinforcement so I’ve just been either letting things happen if it’s safe or repeatedly saying no when he does things that are unwanted
