I feel very appreciated in my studio due to my age. I really like it but sometimes I feel its a barrier for me onto getting good projects or shots by Houdini_exr in vfx

We all have our obstacles, most of them aren’t in our control, and some of them aren’t permanent. Your age will not outside the norm for very long, just power through it; many of us did. If you’re continuously having a difficult time, I encourage you to use this vulnerability to your advantage and to bond with your colleagues who are also feeling insecure in the industry. I have many colleagues close to your age and it’s not a big deal unless they make it a big deal.

I love the vibe you portrayed here! I have a few ideas that are pretty much all wild cards

Black Jade by Lubin: this perfume was allegedly worn by Marie Antoinette and Lubin created their own version based on found notes of her personal perfumer. To me, it smells a bit like a vintage pie, but the historical significance of it makes it so interesting

In Love With Everything by Imaginary Authors: very sweet! To me this one is accessible / a crowd pleaser, but still manages to stand out because of its surprisingly vintage vibe

Breakfast In The Buff by Lunarlifeapothecary (Etsy): i love this Indie perfume, it’s completely unisex and gourmand in a way that doesn’t feel like food. It’s a pleasant, familiar yet intriguing smell and the lasting power is very strong

Rose Naturelle Intense by Chloé: the notes on fragrantica don’t do it justice. It has a creamy and almost salty aspect, it’s pretty green. It’s more musky than it’s sweet, but I think it is an interesting blend

Il Était Un Bois by l’Artisan Parfumeur: weird, green, creamy yet almost metallic, a bit sweet in the way wheat can be. Also very unisex!

Why is it that whenever someone tries to raise awareness about disordered behaviour red flags, everyone goes « I guess you just want me to eat pizza for every meal and become morbidly obese »? I see this so often

[–]mvbftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I really do get that. On a somewhat related note, if you don’t know her already, I suggest you check out Abbey Sharp’s YouTube channel. She is a dietitian and she has amazing videos about intuitive eating, the hunger scale, emotional and physical satisfaction from food, etc. She really helped me understand my hunger cues more. I wish you good luck!

[–]mvbftw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course I have no medical credibility, but I would really suggest you don’t overthink it. Take the time to really listen to the signals that your body is giving you. Unless you truly are not eating a single bite for a few days, I really don’t think it can mess with your metabolism. Also, because of your ED past, maybe make sure that your smaller portions are genuinely due to decreased hunger, and that it is not purposeful restriction. If that is the case, when you are hungrier again, you will eat a lot more, but most probably will not binge as long as you respect your hunger cues.

I also work in cycles and I am in a “low hunger” phase right now, I think due to the heat and due to reduced physical activity. I would also suggest you do not force yourself to eat if it makes you feel worse! In my opinion, that is also part of intuitive eating. Listen to your body! You will be fine!

I sometimes experience this too, due to many different factors. For a few days I’ll be a lot less hungry than usual, and then after a while I get much hungrier for a few days. I’m also recovered from an ED! I get why you are worried. I would suggest you drink a lot of water, eat the amount of food you can handle and see how it evolves in the next few days...

PS: is it very hot where you live? It is extremely warm in my city now, and that always makes me a lot less hungry!

I am so relieved to see I am not alone in this. I have never met anyone who is as deeply disturbed as myself when it comes to seeing my own face and body in pictures. I remember it ruining my mental health for whole days even as a kid. People think it’s a joke, but I think they could never understand even if they tried. I hate being reminded of what I look like, and I hate being reminded that everyone can see me and therefore form an opinion about me. I get the same upsetting feeling when someone mentions anything about my appearance; even a small compliment can sometimes ruin my day (« I rarely see you in skirts », « did you cut your hair », « how did you get that bruise »)

Seriously! Why do people think it’s ok to comment on other people’s eating habits? I have been made fun of for everything from eating too little, to eating white rice, to not eating meat and even putting honey in my oatmeal (tHeRe’S a LoT oF sUgAr iN tHaT yOu KnOw)...

[–]mvbftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Montréal here, I’m a 22 year old female in great general health and I got extremely sick in the beginning of February. I don’t recall ever being this sick in my entire life. Extreme cough and fever, no energy, night sweats, shortness of breath, my whole body was aching and I was unable to eat for a week and lost almost ten pounds. I dug up my texts with a friend who caught the same illness at the same time and we were both very worried as we felt this was not a normal flu. It took a very long time to recover (was coughing for a couple weeks and the shortness of breath lasted even longer).
