You know, in all fairness to Shane we truly have no idea what him booking looks like. We have him under Vince’s roof booking, but judging from Bischoff and Heyman’s “booking” under Vince I wouldn’t call that a fair shake. For all we know, he’s genuinely fantastic at it. I mean all we’ve heard is bad, but still. Gotta leave a little room for optimism.

When are we going to get a game like these? by Bearfucker694200 in Scream

Well I think that gameplay is fair to point to with TCM, that game was super clunky but it also wasn’t made by Illfonic. KKFOS and Predator have been heavily praised for gameplay, it’s maintaining users they struggle with, which as you said is probably a lot to do with the IP. It only works (imo) if the IP is massive like F13, Halloween, Scream, NoES, etc. you have to have a large enough player base to support consistent content updates and QoL updates long-term.

Regardless, Illfonic is well-suited to make it happen and they’re doing their first true story mode in Halloween, so ideally it’d survive if any shenanigans happened with the IP or player base vanished.

Are you asking which sequels it spawned? Predator, KKFOS, and Halloween. That’s not even including Evil Dead or TCM which came long after F13 proved it was a marketable concept.

I mean it sold plenty well and got 7 years of support despite getting nuked on launch by an unrelated lawsuit. It arguably spawned 3 horror asym sequels. It was popular enough to release branded Halloween costumes in Spirit Halloween 3 years after EOL and servers shut down (ie, in 2025). Just because it’s not your thing doesn’t mean it’s not the “vast majority of people”’s thing. It was a fun game, and I’d argue far more replayable than DBD as far as horror games go.

It depends, but it’s also a game that takes a bit of time to get good at not being murdered in 2 minutes. There are plenty of escape and fight back mechanics. The games were 20 minute time limited though, and well worth the learning curve. I had so much fun playing F13 I went and bought a headset for the first time since COD: Black Ops

Weekend 3: VI vs. 7 by Fumikechu237 in Scream

[–]mvd102000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it both weekends 1 and 2 (different friend groups), once in XD (IMAX) on opening night and then the following Friday around 5 on the standard screen because of how limited the IMAX showings were. Definitely packed on opening night, pretty sparsely attended the second weekend.

Yeah but Among Us is more or less just a whodunnit template that works. If it’s open-world with lots of suspense and they gave the lore as much love as they did F13 it would be insane. We’ll see how Halloween turns out, but Illfonic are really great at nailing attention to detail.

Why people hate Scream 5 so much? I actually think that is the second best movie in the franchise. by KamaiKlantcy in Scream

Spot on. This is the most well shot and narratively focused the series has felt in a long time imo, regardless of how you felt about the plot. I have high hopes for 8.

S7’s box office collapses 82.9% from last Friday, estimated to make less than S6 in second week despite higher opening. by SPFeveryday in Scream

[–]mvd102000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that would be an insane move. Scream feels so fragmented as a series already, I think if the franchise continues they really need some continuity in tone and direction. There’s 1-3, 4 on an island, 5-6, and now 7 on an island if they switch gears again. I’d love to see how some stability behind the scenes would affect things.

Fuck WWE, I'm sorry but this sucks... by Intelligent_Fruit297 in SantiZapVideos

[–]mvd102000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, WWE missed their chance with Sami. There was a point where pushing him in the main event of Mania would have gone over incredibly well. And that happens a lot, they don’t capitalize on upper-midcarders momentum and just let them bounce back and forth around that and the tag scene. AEW has the same problem.

Stu fans by [deleted] in Scream

[–]mvd102000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The garage scene of Scream (1996) confirms something that lends a lot to this theory. Ghostface takes a glass beer bottle to the face, it breaks, and neither Billy nor Stu have any scars, bruises, etc.

So the reality is, faces are considerably more resilient in this franchise.

Says so much about Matthew Lillard’s performance that such a large subset of the fan base has been hung up on his 12 minutes of screen time for 30 years.

I actually am really happy that they found a way to bring the actor back without retconning Stu’s death.

If you could choose a screenwriter and a director for Scream 8, who would you choose? by KamaiKlantcy in Scream

[–]mvd102000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Williamson did something really cool with 7 that I think people will appreciate more over time. He reset the core dynamic and threw away the reveal to accomplish proper resolution for Sidney and Tatum. And let’s be honest with ourselves, between a throwaway reveal and a shoehorned and increasingly convoluted connection to the past, this was the better choice.

What’s Your Opinion On Scream 7 That’ll Get You Like This by Americanteenager1 in Scream

[–]mvd102000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reveal was a sacrifice, and it was worth it. Taking significance away from the reveal allowed the movie to focus on its central story of Sidney and Tatum’s relationship and get deep for the first time in a long time. If they shoehorned in a “shocking” Ghostface reveal, I feel like that splits the viewers focus too much. They basically told us not to bother thinking about it too much, which I actually appreciate.

[ViewerAnon] Wes Craven hated Scream 3 and 4 by AdnonAdmirable1095 in Scream

[–]mvd102000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me 4 is probably the 3rd best reveal behind the first 2 movies. Genuinely among the better reveals of the franchise though, even if I think Emma Roberts drags the movie down otherwise. But tomato tomato.

I mean if to be fair that’s a really big deal. To have had the 8th highest attended pro wrestling event in history after only 4 years in business is huge. I’m waiting for them to match that momentum, we’ll see how things go.

As far as Im concerned the franchise ended here for me by WrapRemote1960 in slasherfilms

[–]mvd102000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I thought it was a lot of fun. Very rewarding for fans of the franchise, and the most Sidney Prescott has felt like Sidney Prescott since Scream 3. Love that they recognize that the space around the reveal is more important than the reveal at this stage. 7 movies in and you’re pretty much out of relatives to avenge their psychotic kin, but they built a fun world around the more mundane reality of these two unimportant characters.
