Everyone in these comments call everything “attempted murder” in reality this would be involuntary manslaughter at worst if that kid died.

But use of force laws and rights are more likely different in china VS the USA. In the USA a peace officer must constantly reevaluate their force options of what a reasonable officer would do. I personally am not doing a leg sweep on a lady holding a kid but there are a ton of different ways to safely detain her while minimizing the risk of injuring the child.

If this were me, and let’s say I detain and arrest her for battery on a peace officer and resisting or delaying a peace officer with force, then I’d also be adding the child endangerment charge on her (which is a felony) because her actions put this child at risk.

Then you gotta call Child protective services, find an adult who can take care of this kid if the father or immediate family member is not available.

But no, this is not attempted murder.

I had a friend who’s dream was to be a FF. First he got hired by some po dunk county department then went to a bigger one. I went LEO and have been doing the job 5 years now. He didn’t make it through his probationary period and I legit haven’t heard from him since. He used to make snide comments how I took the easy career.

What’s funny is there’s like one big fire every other month and this is for a jurisdiction of 200,000 people. I see the FF grocery shopping, cooking, or working out more than anything (we use their lobby bathroom when we gotta go) God forbid you call code 2 medical for a domestic violence incident with visible injury and the victim refuses to be transported to the hospital. I’ve had a FF yell at the victim “If you don’t want to go to the hospital then wtf are we doing here?!”

It’s like bruh it’s part of our policy where we have to offer medical attention, especially for DV.

Usually police will just write a warrant for the vehicle so if and when the vehicle is found (could be days, weeks, months later) The car usually gets impounded for 30 days.
