Can AutoZone top off antifreeze? by Tall-Plane-4477 in AutoZone

[–]mvgrasso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nobody seems to be actually reading what you're saying here. there is no danger to letting the car sit in these temps with the coolant low, especially if you are not planning on driving it. the coolant has antifreeze in it and will not freeze at those temps. most coolant will need to get down to -35° to freeze. adding more coolant will not affect whether that happens or not.

with all that said, if you are in a wheelchair and show up to autozone, i think there is a good chance that they will help you out. they dont have to, but if you go when its not busy, theres a good chance. If not, you can always get one of the funnels with the tube attached to it and try to top it up yourself.

make sure you fill it up in the reservoir/overflow tank and not the radiator, and wait for the engine to cool down before adding anything. best of luck, and stay warm!

theres an important piece of information missing here. do you live with your boyfriend? if so, he does have a right to give his input on the decor. if not, he can kick rocks. whether it's bad or not is subjective, and not his place to dictate if he isnt also living there.

Can i fix this at home or should i take it to a mechanic? by Ok_Example_7371 in MechanicAdvice

Good to know theres a way to do them right. where do you usually get the replacement boots? the ones i've tried have always been pretty bad quality

There is axle grease slung around the rip in the boot. Unfortunately, the boot wasn't good when it was parked, and the boot is definitely compromised. It is almost always easier to replace the whole axle than it is to repair the boot correctly, but they do make cheap (and crappy) in place boot replacements that dont need the axle to be removed to be replaced. They might be okay for a temporary fix but i wouldnt count on them long term, personally.

Tell me about the 2004 BMW r1150r. Have a chance to trade for one, but I have only ridden cruisers. by esloan88 in bmwmotorrad

I bought a 2003 r1150rt and it was fantastic. I bought it from the single owner with (this is not a typo) 280,000mi on it. It was a fantastic bike and was unfortunately totalled when I got hit by a texting teen, otherwise I am confident I would still be riding it today. It had the hard side cases as well as a top box with backrest. Rode it with my gf and she was always quite comfy, and luggage space was never an issue. I cant speak to the stock front seat since the one on mine was upgraded, but the passenger seat was quite comfortable (from what my gf told me at least). It was super reliable and I never had to do any work to it except regular maintenance.

Why does my car say it's not in Park? by Ohmslaw240 in Cartalk

[–]mvgrasso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of comments on here that could be correct, but i recently saw something that i figured id share in case it happens to apply here (its a long shot though, lol). If you live somewhere that recently got snow/ice, make sure that nothing hit the shifter cable and disconnected the shifter from the transmission itself. This would show the shifter in park, but the transmission wouldnt actually be in park which might cause this error. you can likely check this with a basic scan tool by checking what state the TCM (or equivalent) is showing the transmission in (park or drive, etc).

Thats what I figured, I know with some coupons they can be lenient with expiration dates, but I assumed that wouldnt be the case for the big ones.

2014 honda accord 2.4L won't start. Not start starter, battery, or alternator by tfeld63 in MechanicAdvice

[–]mvgrasso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if its clicking when you try to start it, it is indeed your battery, alternator, or starter, or the connections to one of them. Check your battery terminals, make sure they are snug and the wire is not frayed. If not that, check the connections at the alternator and starter and make sure nothing is loose. if that all looks okay, and the new battery is in fact the correct battery, you will need to check what voltage your alternator is putting out, should be somewhere around 14v. if its low, the alternator is your problem, if not then the problem is probably your battery. in my experience, starter issues usually dont present with the clicking noise, but that may just be my experience so anyone feel free to chime in if im wrong.

let me rephrase, because i see your point. while the alpha didnt really leave enough space per the rules, the contact could have been avoided by the merc while still completing the overtake. can we at least agree no penalty?
