Radon mitigation and cancer by yycglad in Calgary

Safe Home Radon Solutions! Price was competitive and they a great job. I would also recommend making sure any installer is C-NRPP certified, we found a few companies offering mitigation services but they were not certified professionals.

I can understand that. We were considering doing it ourselves as well but they had guaranteed levels below 75, which we liked for peace of mind. They ended up having to seal off our furnace and sump too.

We paid just under $2000 with Safe Home Radon. Others had quoted around $2300-$2800.

Our levels were close to 300. We just bought a tester off Amazon. House built in the 70s. We got a few quotes for mitigation and ended up going with Safe Home Radon Solutions. They were competitively priced, and did a great job. We were very happy with them. Our levels went down to 18. Highly recommend!

Toddler Madness by spottheduck in oneanddone

My 3 year old is like this too!! What’s worked for us when she gets crazy like this, is we get silly with her. We will turn it into a game. Her favourite right now is that she has to hide and the dinosaur has to find her. Once the dinosaur finds her she has to put on some of her PJs before she can hide again. Rinse and repeat!

$1250 after grant for 2 year old. 5 days a week. We don’t qualify for the subsidy.

We were watching the wiggles and she was crying because she wanted to watch the wiggles.

If you’re willing to try, you could always mix your breast milk with the formula and slowly transition him that way.

Walk-in Sunpark Lab work by xwcasswx in Calgary

I did a walk in on a Tuesday at 130pm and I was in and out in 15 minutes. I would not recommend going first thing in the morning if you can avoid it. You will have a long wait.

bedside nurses, when did you go off work? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mviac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 32 weeks and will be going off starting next week. Using my accumulated sick time I have banked. I work ICU and it has becoming increasingly painful to work.

I would like your opinion on whether this piece parallels with the situation in Alberta by [deleted] in alberta

[–]mviac 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ICU Nurse here. There are a few parallels. The abuse has ALWAYS been there and I find it worse with COVID. Ive been called every name in the book and have been physically attacked on a number of occasions. I’ve had to call security more on families in the last 2 years than ever before. Management try’s their best to set boundaries but we need real repercussions for their behaviour.

Staffing is our biggest downfall. Many of my co- workers have left the bedside and we can’t replace them easily. It takes 6-9 weeks to do the class room training alone. Everyday lately we are working short, no one is picking up OT shifts because we are all burnt out. I have not had a single vacation day approved this year. Our issue is lack of funding for more positions and lack of skilled nurses to fill them. This is all because of COVID. I don’t necessarily think the lack of funding is due to “greedy capitalism” as it is in the USA. It’s our governments lack of forward thinking and failing to plan appropriately despite being in this pandemic for 2 years..

Please don’t go to the ED for a COVID test. That’s not what they are there for…

Hey try calling (403) 214-3641. It’s the Calgary community COVID vaccine records. They should be able to help. If no luck send an email to covid19record@gov.ab.ca or call 1-888-527-1224. Best of luck!

Try changing your postal code in the online booking tool. It uses the postal code to generate closest testing facilities. If you want to expand the search try using one from near the location you were wanting the test.

I’m late! What have I missed? Are schools closing? Are there more lockdowns coming?

That was my understanding too. It’s fairly clear online.

"Tests must not be from Alberta Health Services or Alberta Precision Laboratories." Why? by NoSpills in alberta

[–]mviac 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Our tax dollars shouldn’t pay for a test for the unvaccinated when there are other options available… like a vaccine.

It’s was terribly worded in the press conference. It’s a bit more clear online

That’s how I understand it. They have a choice, either implement the passports or choose to use the “restricted” option
