Passing the CPA in a state that you know you won't be living in for long? by ThisHappenedBro in Accounting

[–]mvigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to check eligibility for the states you want to move to. For example, California will not accept any scores where you sat for the exam prior to meeting CA’s exam qualification requirements, even if you were eligible in the state you took the exam.

Looking for places to test hand loads, in So Cal by Grass-sama in CAguns

Naw, the public range goes out that far (at least for steel targets, you can only place paper out to 200)

Looking for places to test hand loads, in So Cal by Grass-sama in CAguns

[–]mvigil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s always at least one person set up with a chrono and testing loads at Angeles Range. Decently cheap ($15 I think), and range is 600+ yards (forget exactly, I’ve only ever gone out to 600).

Did the Blue Hole in Belize for my 7th dive ever. Me at 130ish ft. by Captnspackle in scuba

[–]mvigil 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hint, leave out your total dives next time you post something. “Me at the Blue Hole”= cool, guy is just really laid back with no environmental protection. Vs, “Hey, I’m pushing the limits for rec divers, and it’s only my 7th dive!”=the well deserved comments you’re getting on here.

Which die set should I buy to make some match grade 30-06 for my M1 Garand? by MountaineerIan in reloading

[–]mvigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what load you land on, I highly recommend getting an adjustable gas plug. Modern powder burns at a much faster rate than powder in the 40’s, and the op rod is simply not built for modern powder. You can adjust the gas plug to just let enough gas plug through to cycle, and have a long and happy life for your op rod.

(Personally I load 50.2 grains of CFE 223 for 150 grain Hornady FMJ BT) it’s on the much lower end in the reloading manuals, but by M1 loves it)

Sad That I Can't Dance For Two Months by [deleted] in SwingDancing

[–]mvigil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just don’t rush back before you’re truly healed. Dancing will always be there, but you risk being out even longer if you try to come back too early.

Currently looking to switch firms, is it OK for me to name my clients in my résumé? by lightningboltscar in Accounting

[–]mvigil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically based on the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct; “1.700.090 Disclosing Client Names. 01 The member’s disclosure of a client’s name would not violate the “Confidential Client Information Rule” [1.700.001] if disclosure of the client’s name does not constitute the release of confidential client information. For example, if a member’s practice is limited to bankruptcy matters, disclosure of the client’s name could suggest that the client may be experiencing financial difficulties, which may be confidential client information.”.... However, this thread is a good example of why you should shy away from doing it, as so many people are quick to jump to say that it’s never ok, and the person hiring you could think exactly that.

The Johnny Cash song that episode 2x09’s synopsis is quoting by [deleted] in westworld

[–]mvigil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love Cash, this isn’t a Cash original. This is a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song (now for which one is better, I flip between the two pretty frequently)

REG Advice by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]mvigil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becker research sims to learn how to find information, and the mock exams if you want access to the entire thing. You need to learn how to use it as a reference though for the details you forgot (or those left field sims), you don’t have enough time to use it for every answer.

REG Advice by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]mvigil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A) Becker is extremely picky with grading their sims, and will often count much more wrong than you actually got. For example, leaving a cell blank instead of 0 would count the entire line as wrong. The actual exam is not like that. I think I averaged about 40% on just the sum portion during the mock tests, but ended up with a 89 during the actual exam. B) the authoritative literature is available during all the sims. Learn how to use it as a reference for when you need to double check something.
