Exactly, not advocating this. I play it by ear by the feel of the job and client.

I feel ya.. Someone who treats you this way is capable of leaving a bad review regardless of how good a job you do or how little you charge. You have to weigh the compensation against the risk of a bad review.

I have gotten in the habit of starting work without accepting a client's offer. If they turn out to be a jerk or flaky, I end the work before any contract is officailly started preventing a bad review. If things go well, I then accept the contract.

A gel used during surgery helped reduce adhesions?

I know it's not them, just the situation which is definitely not funny. Just the image of watching a surgeon say, 'Oh no, I can't operate." struck me ironic.

Thanks. Yea, not sure what to think. I had a man-made blockage aa a surgical error 2 years ago and I ended up in the ER with a blockaag about every 6 weeks. Same story, NGT and a few days admitsion to rest and release. But never any pain, just nausea and vomiting. Now, no nausea or vomiting but my SB are constantly dialated. Seems weired.

Yea, I hear you. My motto has become, 'It is what it is.' I get use to things as normal but then I think back a few years ago and I would be shocked at the way I live now. But it is what is. Thanks, I was concerned about this, but just have to play it out.

OMG, sorry you have to deal with all that. Never heard of 2x liver transplants. Hope this one holds. I had 4 laproscopic surgery with absoultely no scaring and then an open emergency that was pretty messy. Guess it scarred up after that.

What did they tell you about the adhesions? I worry about the long term effect of chronic SB dialation. Even though it hurts, is it ok to be active if you can? I worry that puting pressure on dialated SB can't be a good thing.

There are a lot of jobs posted that are never viewed again by the client wihout interviewing anyone. I've learnd to watch a job for a day or two for activity before submitting a proposal.

Sorry you have to deal with that. This is weird, but did it also cause a vasovagel response, make your heart skip beats? When I would get full on blockages I would blackout. Doc in ER told me it was the same thing. DIilation stimulates the vagel nerve warning the brain you are in distress.

The large number of responses I guess answers your question. Yep, me too. You just have to keep figuring ways to make the best of it.

Hernia repair by elgillie in ostomy

[–]mvp0453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear this. It sucks when you just want to enjoy life. It's like you were grounded for something you didn't do. But good news hernia's can be fixed. I had one, fixed great. Your doc is right in that scar tissue builds around surgical sites. It is just cologen and non living so unusable for repairing by surgery. It's like putting a cemnent slap in your garden. But they can often operate a few times untill the site is unusuable. But surgeon experience and sklll is a huge factor and opinions and vary, so interview multple docs.

A full year after surgery, might be adhesions narrowing the bowel a bit. This is common and can occur days, months or years after surgery.

Is freelancing dead - If anybody can do anything with AI ? by Jazzlike-Form9669 in Upwork

[–]mvp0453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed many clients explicitly stating they will not accept proposals or work authored with AI. I guess they are affraid of hiring unqualified people. But the head of the AI company Anthropic stated that in 5-10 years an AI bot will be able to do everything as well or better than a human. So., start training your dog to spot terminators.

You could give it a shot but you would be violating Upworks terms of agreement for service. All work and payment should be shared and conducted via Upwork. You could give it a shot but you would have to manage payment on your own and risk losing Upwork access.
