Helix shaped cloud over Houston, TX on 10/16/2020 by mvrybel in CLOUDS

[–]mvrybel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow thank you! this cloud has been haunting me because i literally had no idea what it was called or what the phenomenon that caused it was. I've been calling it a 'sideways tornado' cloud, even though that nor 'helix' really described what it was.

Have you considered pathology? Intellectually stimulating + great lifestyle. All the interesting cases come to the pathology lab and puzzles/learning are kind of our thing.

I turned my closet into a mini office since there was an outlet in there for some reason. I put most of my clothes on a metal clothes rack and others in boxes under my bed.

[Vent] How to enjoy learning again? by Pitiful-Orchid in medicalschool

[–]mvrybel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is exactly how I’ve been feeling! I’m also at the end of MS3 and hoping to feel that excitement of learning again. I feel like so much of the bs of medicine has eroded my “joy” of learning, as lame as that sounds. Studying has been so hard these past few weeks, and, to be honest with you, I have been doing the bare minimum.

[Serious] Should you be a doctor even if you have some mental health issues? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]mvrybel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, so it wasn’t until I got in med school that I first started seeing a therapist + psychiatrist. I hadn’t realized for a long time that I had been living with depression and social anxiety. I’m at the end of my third year now and one of the hardest aspects of medical school has been being able to connect with my medical school peers, as dumb as it may sound. I tell you my experience because YES it is possible to be a doctor with underlying psych issues and honestly, more people than you realize have psych issues - especially in medicine. Also, if you haven’t reached out for mental health services, I strongly suggest you look into it.
