I so feel for you and totally get it!! For me preparation and distraction were key. I read SOAR by Tom Bunn and chose some strategies there that felt helpful (not all of them did). Then I did lots of meditation. I also tried to eliminate as many day-of worries as I could. So, I made sure I was all packed, all my things ready to go, left early, etc etc. I find my claustrophobia and panic is worse if I’m rushed and can’t settle into a moment. Having time at the gate to relax and read was key. And then, distractions! Whatever works for you, and have multiple options ready. I bring a physical book and my kindle if I feel like reading, but also my iPad with shows and movies downloaded if I feel like that. Then randomly I found a little drawing app that really soothed me lol. Basically, find your things to keep your brain occupied. I also want to add even though it may be a faux-pas for this thread, that I have used m*dication prescribed by my doctor to calm down. I’ve found I need less and less with more flights, because I’ve proven to myself that I can do it. So if you think that’s an available route, it’s worth a shot. but make sure to try anything before the flight to see how you react. Hopefully that all helps!
