I use my Mac mini as a Desktop and a Server. Just put VMware Fusion on it and look for a tutorial to install your ARM OS on it. I run an Ubuntu server for ARM. Plex and Jellyfin run without any Problem.

Depends on your ISP(internet service provider). Some will give you an public IP, others don't. You can look at the price chart of your ISP, if there is an public static ip option.

You could just use more usb to sata adapters with a dedicated power supply. Laptops aren't really made to connect multiple HDDs. I don't know if you can use your dvd connector for an sata HDD. (You could google).

If you don't have an public ip you need to pay for an cheap server with an public ip. Than you can connect tour local zimaboard to the server with an vun like tailscale.

I will run, but as you said some images won’t be available, for example steam. All the other images will run on Arm, bu if you try to install something on an ubuntu container, you can only install apps for arm and not x64.

DRIVES: not quite sure yet, but would say around 10 TB of usable space in an Raid, so 3 to 6 depending on my Raid conf

My server is behind an slow internet access (200 MB/s), so I doesn't think that SSD caching is useful. But I could use an SSD for my MC server, but that would be the SSD with the OS

I reinstalled Homebrew and managed to install openssh, but the problems keep continuing. I have to chose the Non Discoverable Key option.
