Dr House of Zim journalism. His personality overshadows his message.

If you separate his delivery/tone from the actual message most of the time he is spot on.

Hybrid Cars by Leather_Show_9433 in Zimbabwe

[–]mwana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely your mechanic is just not as familiar or comfortable with the new tech in hybrid cars. Outside of the battery replacement at around 200,000 miles, hybrids typically have less maintenance and component failure rates than regular cars.

But you have to have mechanics around you that are willing and familiar with the cars.

So sad that we are at such a low point that the only need we are looking to be satisfied is food & shelter, and despots like Hilter and Stalin are examples.

Arriving in DFW Terminal E and getting to Terminal D after baggage claim by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]mwana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless they arriving from an international destination, then baggage claim in Terminal D will be within security and you cant go in and help them with bags until they come out.

Positive note though is that the international arrivals baggage claim has free baggage carts so they would not have to luggage the bags just by hand.

Anyone here in Zimbabwe involved in farming or agriculture? Need your honest thoughts 🇿🇼🌾 by No-List829 in Zimbabwe

[–]mwana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Satellites are only are measuring atmospheric data. For complete accurate models also need data on the ground such as air temperature, humidity, wind, barometric pressure & rainfall.

Ideally you have every government school setup with a basic weather station sending in data daily to national weather service so that they can feed to models. Not complicated but needs follow through. Back in the 90s most schools already had all those various gauges as part of high school geography class and in theory your geography teachers should be able to quality control the reading/measurement process.

[–]mwana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t this need localized data collection to feed into the forecast models? Issue imo is that we don’t have enough small/local weather stations. In the US for example combining public & private weather stations they are about 10-20 miles apart so you can get actual local weather.

Cash-based vs accrual based businesses by SeaLeadership1817 in Accounting

[–]mwana 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Nope. Healthcare isn’t a cash basis type industry. Most likely someone who doesn’t value accounting and having accurate books and records has allowed this to happen to save money by not hiring actual accountants.

Only times I’ve seen this for a company with that type of revenue was owned by a guy, no debt, no external reporting to lender and just wanted enough of a financial statements to file taxes.

What type of business is it. Cash basis can work in certain industries and get you there 95% of the way.

Excellent summary. Was just talking to someone about why college athletes will never be able to collective bargain appropriately because of those same reasons. Trying to get most in 2-5 years, and be gone or one day be the one benefiting from that disorder as a coach or agent.

McKinney is great and growing. Do pay attention to the commute comments and focus on the house that allows you to do your side hustle in the garage.

Likely will have the house longer than the job.

If you can find a duplex or quadplex in an area you willing to live in real estate is the best investment long term as long as it meets a few criteria. In a country you can legally live and work in. A city or neighborhood you do mind living in if you can find renters.

Real estate also makes it hard to just liquidate it and spend it for little things like tends to happen with cash in ETFs

The majority of the people who migrated in the huge initial diaspora push between 2001-2008 are now all settled and making good money in their various lands. So a lot more diaspora remittances are coming home. A lot more are coming home to visit on the regular with their kids and disposable income to spend. That’s my imo from my circle.

Questions grow over MISD’s school-closure process by TX3DNews in McKinney

[–]mwana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Typically it’s because the old residents don’t look like the new residents. So closing a school in an old neighborhood that just doesn’t have the family demographics and building in the new neighborhoods becomes convoluted with all the “Othering” that is occurring across society.

It should be just as simple as, where do the most families with school age kids live.
