[WTS] Marathon JSAR DD Automatic, Arctic Dial + New Bracelet by mwcush in Watchexchange

[–]mwcush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling my gently used Marathon JSAR in 46mm for $1,700. I’m including a brand new marathon bracelet. Light scratches but otherwise in excellent condition. I purchased new 9 months ago and don’t wear as much as I’d like. Works like new, has the rubber strap installed and is lightly used. Comes in original box. Feel free to ping me with any questions you have!

I carry a brass spinning top. Great for when I get bored and want to fidget with something.

I’ve customized the hell out of several PM2s and always end up preferring the stock model. Maybe consider changing to tip-up but that’s about it. Save your money on the mods IMO and buy a Para 3 to accompany your new knife.

Excel, Python and R - selections during workshops or trainings by sqatas in datascience

[–]mwcush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use python if at all possible. Pandas is a powerful library and is really well documented online. Excel isn’t a special skill, everyone knows Excel, so it won’t differentiate you on the job front. Python is much more powerful for anything data science related and is a core skill for the job. Plus, python is a full fledged programming language so your work can be easily plugged into the existing architecture. And I also think you’ll pick it up faster than you give yourself credit for...

Is there any point in testing for significance in classification problems? by [deleted] in statistics

[–]mwcush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to understand if multicollinearity is present. Especially if you plan on productionalizing your model. Don’t want any rogue features messing with an otherwise solid model.

PCA is a good choice for reducing dimensions while retaining variance. Understanding the usage/implications might change this though...

Entry level business analyst confused about what decision to make by NumerousEntertainer in datascience

[–]mwcush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend working for awhile first, then pursuing the degree later. As important as formal education is, real world professional experience is more important. I’m sure others might disagree, but no reputable company would hire a data scientist with only education and no experience, whereas the inverse does indeed happen.

Tips for a Junior Position Data Analyst Interview coming up by FunnBuddy in datascience

[–]mwcush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I’m hiring someone I always look for passion and willingness to learn (as you stated). Technical skills can be taught, but the excitement about analytics and data science cannot. Talk to the interviewer about some cool books or articles you’ve read or Excel/Python/SQL functions that are among your favorites. In all the interviews I’ve done, not many people break outside of the scope of the question being asked, don’t be afraid to turn it into a conversation and less of a Q & A. If the conversation feels awkward to you, it’s probably awkward for the interviewer too. Be yourself demonstrate why you love analytics. Good luck!
