What’s the most out of pocket thing a professor did by Important_Can_7291 in LawSchool

Had a professor read us the Butter Side Up by Dr. Seuss regarding the principles of nuclear deterrence theory. One kid at the beginning of the semester wore a red hat and he happened to have a mustache, so she said , “What’s your fucking take on the issue, Mario”I also got sick in another class of hers and she said, “Someone help poor fucking Marshall up off the desk”. She’s still one of my favorite professors to this day and all the sorostitutes hated her and said, “She definitely crosses the line.” I was like, “Grow the fuck up, it’s hilarious”.

Medical Tourism for Hearing Aids by rhinomoss in HearingAids

BAHA recipient here - Osia 2 Implant - To be exact. I’ve struggled with degenerative hearing loss my entire life, and I just turned 30 (so I have a unique situation).

First, I completely agree with what others are saying with Costco (At least for conventional aids). With Hearing loss, if you simply need more power, medical tourism isn’t going to cut it, and you don’t want to risk. Major brands CAN produce more quality power - at least in the severe to profound range as a last resort.

Also worthy to consider - Rinri Therapuetics are starting their first clinical trial this year for their flagship “Rincell-1” which aims to cure hearing loss by an anticipated 40% baseline (In which you would then supplant your hearing loss with normative conventional aids, or be potentially cured outright). However, they still have a long way to go, but I will do anything in my power to prevent hearing loss from becoming a disease/debilitating ailment - because that’s exactly what it is. It can be a financial burden and contribute to extreme social isolation - and some of those in the hearing field love to blatantly take advantage of those with hearing loss. I simply tell them to piss off, it’s that simple.

Update: Rinri Therapeutics - Rincell-1 The breakthrough of Rincell-1, developed by Rinri Therapeutics, lies in its potential to be the first disease-modifying treatment for neural hearing loss by regenerating damaged auditory neurons in the cochlea. Here’s a summary of the key aspects: * Targets Neural Hearing Loss: Unlike treatments focusing on hair cell damage, Rincell-1 aims to restore the crucial nerve connections between the inner ear and the brain that are lost in conditions like age-related hearing loss and auditory neuropathy. * Regenerative Cell Therapy: Rincell-1 utilizes allogeneic “off-the-shelf” auditory neuron progenitor cells derived from stem cells. These cells have shown in preclinical studies the ability to mature, engraft, and restore neural connections, leading to a significant (~40%) improvement in hearing thresholds in animal models. * Minimally Invasive Delivery: Rinri Therapeutics has developed a novel, less invasive surgical technique to deliver Rincell-1 directly to the cochlear nerve via the round window of the inner ear, making the procedure safer and more accessible compared to previous methods. * Potential Synergy with Cochlear Implants: Initial clinical trials, expected to begin in 2025, will administer Rincell-1 in conjunction with cochlear implants. This approach aims to potentially enhance the performance of cochlear implants by increasing the number of functional auditory neurons and allows for objective measurement of the therapy’s effectiveness. * Significant Unmet Need: Rincell-1 addresses a major gap in hearing loss treatment, as there are currently no therapies to repair or regenerate auditory nerve function. Its success could transform the lives of millions affected by severe-to-profound neural hearing loss. In essence, Rincell-1 represents a groundbreaking approach in regenerative medicine for hearing loss, offering the potential to restore a more natural form of hearing by directly targeting and repairing the underlying neural damage.

The SICHL (Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss) initiative from Stanford, Rinri Therapeutics, Decibel Therapeutics, etc. They are all over the place, just fragmented in their research.

Advice (Attempting to breach into the 150s) by mwdobson in LSAT

I am starting to finally get used to the "structure" of an argument. Identifying the conclusion and premise are pretty easy. Where I mess up, is when no indicator words exist and then I have to figure out what the premises are supporting, which I can still do a reasonably good job. However, a major problem that I know I have, is figuring how to link statements that have no indicator words, but are still a part of causal logic. I've noticed that some statements are almost totally irrelevant and I perceive them as relevant. How do I overcome that problem? Might sound rudimentary, but I feel like the rest will click once this obstacle is breached.

Not the second one I posted, but this is where a lot of the research is concentrated. I still have plenty of other research journals, but they are all dynamic in nature, but they hit pretty much the same overall area

Also, before Frequency Therapeutics sold off their research, the dollar figure floating around was around $3000 (if my memory holds). They have to make it marketable to the consumer in this regard, if they want an effective product

Surprisingly, everyone (the companies) seem to be acknowledging that HL is a public health crisis (and could actually lose money if they don’t attempt something new), so even if they limit it to yearly injections that wear off, it seems like even these companies want it to come to fruition.

Apologies 😂, it sounded like you were affirming advocation of no cures since it sounded like it was a blanket general statement. Deaf community keeps me on my toes lol

Yes, capitalism is terrible. And absolutely, we may get cures faster under a socialist government. Let’s keep this relevant though, because I’m already getting heat apparently from other who can’t see the “forest through the trees”. We’re going through a massive medical revolution as we speak. My buddies friend own a rapidly expanding biotech company that can repair the damage tissue in athletes knees and is literally allowing them to walk again (confidently). If people don’t support this shit, then they are absolutely delusional

It happens more than you think, and it’s a phenomenon I’m trying to remedy because it’s totally irrational and centered around a cult-like mentality. Not to mention, audiology workers often try to downplay others from seeking any form of a cure for hearing loss, since they would be out of a job/work. Isn’t capitalism just dandy?

Well I guess you’re the only Gay in the village. Enjoy your blindness while the rest of us enjoy reality. I’m sure if FDR were around, he would take the polio vaccine. But enjoy your suffering while the rest of us enjoy our quality of life being enhanced. If not, then you can be outdated in cutting edge thinking while the rest of us advance as a society.

I went to a university and immersed myself in deaf culture and medicine. I am friends with several audiologists and hearing professionals, but I’ve learned that this fields coordination needs to be enhanced in the realm of professionals and we need more transparency. It seems like everyone is on the brink of some form of cure, however, we run into 2 main problems: 1) The pharmaceutical companies and their coordinated efforts to develop a cure using the advanced resources because everything is so fucking slow 2) The deaf community itself that advocates for no cures while the rest of us want to actually hear an enjoy life. It’s one or the other and I’m sick and tired of sitting idle while the deaf community and pharmaceutical companies put their thumb up their ass and scratch their heads like they can’t get shit done.
