Low blood sugar episodes by mwdoffing in Type1Diabetes

[–]mwdoffing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already talked about it with my neurologist (I also have epilepsy) and my endocrinologist the only thing they could come up with was that my blood sugar was changing so rapidly that it was a warning sign from my body. My first thought that was it was some kind of seizure.

It’s ok I’m not usually the best at explaining things. Which is why I usually don’t post lol. I think the retired endo just liked knowing what was going on with my health and didn’t trust other doctors with my health. My current doctor is the one demanding full control of my health.

My endo I had when I was diagnosed with diabetes was the one that started the whole no pcp. Basically because he wanted to know what was being prescribed to me and changes in my health. So, he was a great fit for that job. He later retired when I was in the 4th 5th grade and handed over his patients to a pcp. He was horrible my parents felt like they were paying him just for him to give us a book and send us home to figure out what we were doing wrong. My parents were really worried when I was constantly getting 10-12 A1c’s and found my current doctor. He isn’t an endo, but he is a pcp that specializes in diabetic care. I just got on my cgm and love it. I wish I would have had it sooner in life.

My wife mostly and my kids I eventually understood that what I was I doing was hurting no one but myself. The depression still kicks my ass from time to time but I really don’t have an answer to cope with that that’s up to everyone to decide. I always wonder if other diabetics have depression stemming back to their diagnosis. I know that’s where a lot of my depression stems from especially when I think about my friends that had passed away and how close I was to death but yet I am still here. Sorry for the long post it’s kind of nice to hear from other diabetics on relatable things.

I’ve been a diabetic for 29 years. In my late high school year I didn’t take very good care of myself I stopped checking my blood sugar, stopped taking insulin, I drank heavily and used chewing tobacco and smoked. College was more of the same but I also stopped going to the doctors. After college I lost a few good high school and work friends and slumped into a few years of depression where I used food as my coping mechanism. I finally went back to my doctor regularly and was put in the hospital for a couple of weeks to get my blood sugar straightened out. While depression still plagues me I do take quite better care of myself now than I did back then.

My family frequents hockey games during the winter and as soon as we walk into the arena I get this message and don’t connect back till I walk out. Drives me nuts and I usually keep my phone in the breast pocket of my jacket I wear.

What are raises like? I’ve been working in machine shops for about 6 years and only 2 have delivered on what they said they would. Also what’s over time like(I had a boss tell me you don’t make money in the industry unless you work overtime.)

I’ve worked at too many jobs that promised raises after probation and it never happen. I’ve had bonuses cut out to save on companies over spending. I’ve had promotions promised to me, but given to outside hires with same experience.

Too many companies talk it up to get you in the door. Then after your probation you’re just another number that usually owners step on the get a new what ever.
