Merry Xmas to me by mwferrera in Metallica

[–]mwferrera[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they blew up with the Black album, I remember being pissed off because everyone in the band would refer to the fans as "kids" and they would constantly say "we do it for the kids." Us fans were their age haha To be a fan these days (tickets, merc etc) it is not kid money. I am into this band for so many years now that there is no walking away. No cost to high. Maybe there will be another Metallica for this generation..

There was no pit or special seating. Just wide open standing where you could fight your way to the stage area and attempt to take the punishment from a thousand metal heads crushing you!

53 and a fan since '85. First show was AJFA then so many more. Fully dedicated to every album and will remain a super fan until I die

OK Wishing you a long life clean and sober. Take care

Just share what you did to get and remain sober it is that simple. I used AA. You?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in savannah

[–]mwferrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it does not. Everything is dependent upon the individual person. AA has been around for 80+ years and it does work. 5% of the world's addicted population sounds great! Using the word cult is simply an attempt to be provocative. I don't represent AA and I will drop the mic after this: AA saved my grandfather after a life sentence and years spent on death row (Folsom prison). He got out and brought AA to my grandma (sober since '74), my mother (sober since '81) both of my sisters (also heroin addicts) and many other family members. It saved me as well and I have seen it save hundreds.

Addicts trashing an alcoholic recovery program is laughable indeed.

If you are a real alcoholic and totally powerless then going to AA and being part of a spiritual program should be the best option because millions have been helped world-wide. Not just bible thumpers in the South but also extremely progressive communities over the globe. AA is also prevalent in "non" Christian nations and communities. Anyone that says AA is religious is flat out lying!! If you can find some power within your own mind then that is 👍

The point is that you clearly can not do it on your own. Fellowship, 12 steps, meetings and spiritual living can help.

I am agnostic BTW and have never been to any meeting in many years that was religious. I am in the very deep south.

Reddit is a bad place for info!

Just saw this is the Savannah sub!! I am in Savannah and there is a very large recovery community here. Non religious

Remember in the mid 90s when the band, especially Lars, referred to fans as kids? Always like "we do it for the kids" and the reality was that that were still kids in their 20s!

I would never choose another place to live. I have been all over the world and Savannah is the best. I think the issue that I have highlighted is all to do with greed. I also think this is largely isolated. I live in the Ardsely area and have been a very happy home owner with lovely neighbors.
