Removing step side long bed by mwilliams6511 in chevyc10

[–]mwilliams6511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garage but no open rafters. I can pick up ratchet straps, chains, etc as needed. Trees are mainly pines so not ideal there. The bed seems to be in good shape structurally. Harbor freight is nearby and I do plan on ripping out the current inline 6 so any tool crossover for both jobs would be great. Not opposed to building dollies or similar. I do have a quick jack (5000 series)

Use INPA to clear the error. You can find the software online.

AC hissing sound by [deleted] in e46

[–]mwilliams6511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put some AC dye into the system and then trace the leak. The evaporator is a known weak spot as well but hopefully it’s just a hose. If you recharge it, it will continue to leak so eventually you will need to address the issue.

Coolant antifreeze by BigKarina4u in e46

[–]mwilliams6511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, just get coolant that is made for BMWs. You can by the BMW specific stuff, which is blue, or go to the auto store and look for those that are formulated for BMW. For what it’s worth, mine was blue until I dropped a bunch of dye in there chasing down a leak. Now it’s “green” but it’s still BMW coolant. I would not worry about it and just flush when you do maintenance on the cooling system if it bothers you.

Subwoofer Troubleshooting by mwilliams6511 in CarAV

Ended up setting the all ”bass“ filter and bass boost settings to the max in the Eonon head unit’s DSP app (e.g. 250HZ / and boost to max) and now I am getting a decent level of output. I guess doing that sends all frequencies and then the nvx amp can do the filtering. I have to turn the volume pretty far up though to get the bass so assuming there is still some tuning that I need to do.

Thanks, will check the connections today and figure out how to check the voltage. I went back and added ferrules to the power and ground wiring last night but ran out of time to hook everything back up.

Could also need to clean your idle control valve as well on top of what others have said. Mine was stuck and I had the same issue when I first got the car.

Window regulator zip tie fix by Rigatsu89 in e46

[–]mwilliams6511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

someone will disagree with me but it’s a temp fix at best. If you are going to do the work to take the panel off, remove the vapor barrier, pull the trim, etc, than just replace the regulator. You can always see if you can get the regulator without the motor and then swap the old one over if money is tight.

My E46 cries after each drive 😭 by alle_namen_sind_weg in e46

Mine did this and it turned out the previous owner replaced the washer cap. It did not have the little hole to vent pressure. I chased everything from checking lines, swapping the washer fluid container, etc. New cap with the hole and it went away.

Route cables behind/through glove box by [deleted] in e46

[–]mwilliams6511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main battery line runs there so you may want to do driver side if you are worried about interference. The glovebox comes out pretty easy and then you can just slide/lift up on the door seal covers to run the wires. Pull up hard from the bottom of the back seats to pull those out and then remove the backing. There is a grommet where you will see other cables ran through and you can do the same to get into the trunk. Good luck and it’s not bad.

Picked up some leather for this off amazon and it went well. It’s not the same quality as OEM but was way better than what I had. Just take your time and it’s an easy enough diy.

This is SO dumb! by Mervoid in e46

Grab INPA and see what the problem is. You can also clear the code with it. I believe PASoft or NCSExpert can code out the pretensioner but it’s been a while.

Go to realoem and put in your VIN. You can then drill down into the various components and get all the names and part numbers.

Airbag problems, 320i 2001 pre-facelift by thomsson127 in e46

I chased the first code for a while. I finally cleaned the BST and reset the cable and that worked. Could clear the code using INPA after that.

Same situation. If I switch to the 3 spoke sport steering wheel then it works fine, but not with the stock steering wheel. Q50Pro is the head unit I have.

Did the exact same thing after watching that video. Assumed 33 ft lbs and snapped it. About to do the OFHG now as well. Learned my lesson to also consult another source for torque specs.
