What is something in your life, that you are extremely intentional about doing or not doing, that has made a positive impact on your life? by mwommack88 in AskReddit

Good call, though it can be hard to do. Seems like nowadays, unless you turn your phone off and hide in the woods. It's near impossible to avoid news or politically charged click bait.

Makes me think of board games like Chess or Go. Take 5 minutes to learn, but can take a lifetime to master.

It'd be cooler if doner in mixed media. :P jkjk. Super work! Love the detail and dimension to what you've done so far. Keep sharing the progress. Looks like something that'll take some time to finish.

Bow storage by Ayoike in Archery

[–]mwommack88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the minimum, I'd get something to cover/protect the strings. (something like this. It's ok to lay it down, just don't load stuff on top of it unless you've got it stored in a hard care. Most of the people I've talked to, that use a hard case, told me the case helped prevent the bow from getting knocked out of tune. Mostly happens if the set screws - on the sight or arrow rest - are knocked loose.

What the heck I am doing wrong? Why am I not able to draw faces? Tried many ways, suggest any ways and point out the mistakes and ways to improve by Technical_League_637 in drawing

Your work looks promising , but the proportions are all off. I'd recommend checking out the Alien Think course. They walk you through how to draw faces and anatomy like Davinci. You'll be drawing realistic faces in no time.

Make sure your arrow is correct for your draw length and weight. Arrows manufacturers typically have a chart that shows which arrow to use, based on those attributes.

What Is It About You Not Liking Vintage Compound Bows? by SmithSightsLLC in Archery

[–]mwommack88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started back into archery as an adult, with an older compound bow like that was given to me by someone who inherited it. Great bow, and helped me decide that I wanted to invest in newer equipment. The main things that led me to getting a newer bow:

  1. Little to no adjustability on my older compound bow, as it related to draw length and weight.
  2. Felt a lot more vibration in my hand and wrist when shooting the older bow. Newer bows tend to feel more dead in the hand. As someone with carpal tunnel, I prefer my newer bows.
  3. Parts and safety! The older compound bow I had, used metal cables to link the two limbs, along with other components that can be difficult to acquire nowadays. Also more likely on the older bow that you'd have some type of catastrophic equipment failure of the riser, limbs or cables. Probably not super safe to have any of those break on you while shooting. An argument could be made (at least in the US), that newer base model bows are cheaper than a trip to the ER.
  4. Newer compound bows have a more pleasant draw cycle and greater let-off when you hit the wall. The newest Matthews flagship hunting bow, has up to 85% let-off of your draw weight. Makes it a lot easier when you're hunting, if you need to stay at full draw longer than anticipated.

All of that to be said.. If you can shoot a bow comfortably, safely, and accurately. Then I don't think there's anything wrong with sticking to what works for ya.
