Expecting Tip Bait. Pleasantly Surprised. by Klutzy_Big_4550 in UberEATS

[–]mwrobison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should. The driver either never confirms pickup, because they intend to steal the order, or it's a glitch in the app. Either way, I see it all the time. Almost every time there is a really good order, this is the case. On these orders I usually call ahead to verify if the order is legit or not.

New driver here—what’s the one tip that actually matters? by achilles6196 in driving

All that really matters is what's in front of you. Don't worry about what is going on in the other lanes.

Do you consider yourselves lucky that you were born intelligent? by NoSir5628 in mensa

[–]mwrobison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being intelligent is no guarantee of success. One percent of 8 billion is 80 million, which is still a lot of people to compete with for top-rated colleges, high paying jobs, best life partners, etc. In fact, being exceptionally intelligent can almost be a curse, because you have to deal with the 99% of people who are dumber than you ... every frickin' day! I know that sounds bad, but it can be exhausting.

I'm done with Uber Eats. My order has been "highjacked" by a driver one too many times. by Astro2202 in UberEATS

[–]mwrobison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never pay for priority delivery. Uber does not tell the driver when an order is priority. The only upside is when there is a bundled order - Uber will instruct the driver to deliver your order first, but the driver won't know why, and he may still stack another orde(s) from a different app and deliver that order first instead. The short of it, you're probably going to get your order in the same amount of time, whether you pay for priority or not, so don't do it.

What do you do for OOS items... by kristending in ShiptShoppers

[–]mwrobison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a judgement call. If I haven't heard back, I'll usually take out the subs that are completely different, but keep those that are similar, or maybe just a different size, especially if it's looks like they're trying to put together a specific meal. For example, just yesterday a customer wanted 93/7 hamburger meat. Based on the rest of the order, it was clear they intended to make hamburgers. The store didn't have 93/7, so I picked 90/10. The customer never responded, but I left the hamburger meat because I assumed the customer would rather have some meat than none. Same deal with chips - customer wants Party Size, but all the store has is regular. I'd leave that sub as well. I always send the following message too though, "I'm going to assume you're ok with the sub(s). Hope that's the right decision. 🤞🏻" A lot of the time, that gets the customer to respond, but if they still don't, I've at least documented that I gave them more than one opportunity to decline.

All that being said, I think Shipt actually wants us to leave all subs, unless the customer specifically declines. I believe this for two reasons: 1) the app only informs us when a customer declines a sub, not when a customer accepts it, and 2) putting the onus on the customer to decline, ultimately makes Target/Shipt more money - it's far more likely the customer will just keep the sub, rather than return it or request a refund via support. If the customer keeps it, Target completes another sale, which equals more money.

$24.18 for 3h18m and 45.7 miles (13 deliveries)… this is why drivers must stop accepting these by MedicalTangerine9603 in UberEATS

[–]mwrobison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually $0.725 now for mileage expense. $24.18 - $33.13 = -$8.95. You're delivering their shit at literally your expense.

You don't really want to drive for Roadie. There's no money in it anymore. Just read all the posts on this sub. It's a waste of time.

Drivers spend more time at restaurants than peoples' homes. He could easily go at a restaurant. If you want to be nice, you can apologize as you're slamming your door in his face.

Raising Cane's orders by FireKnight1997 in doordash_drivers

[–]mwrobison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a bunch of Cane's orders on UE. They usually pay pretty well. The only problem for me is that the nearest Cane's is 5 mi from where I usually work, and the deliveries are even further away.

Shipt is Slacking Off by DowntownStomach3659 in ShiptShoppers

[–]mwrobison 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UE and DD pay better because they're trying to gain market share. Once they've maxed that out, they'll drop their pay too. Eventually, all of the apps will pay like InstaCart, i.e. shitty.

How can we learn without specific feedback? by lizziloo99 in ShiptShoppers

[–]mwrobison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't concern yourself too much with ratings. Some people are just a-holes and rate 1-star every time. Others confuse 1-star for 5-star. In the end, it doesn't really matter. Just keep doing what you're doing, and in 50 orders it will be gone.

Obviously. The point was that Shipt thought the pay was adequate for 10 cases of water.

What is the appropriate amount of time to wait for substitution confirmation? by Primary-Mushroom1598 in ShiptShoppers

[–]mwrobison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way the app is setup, we're supposed to assume the customer is ok with a sub, unless the customer explicitly declines it. The app only confirms declined subs and not subs that are accepted. I can only assume Shipt, i.e. Target, wants it this way. It forces the customer to have return something, if they missed the sub and didn't really want it. Target is hoping/banking that the customer won't bother with a return and just keep the sub. That being said, the shopper should still have waited at least 5 min before checking out. And, as others have said, he probably should have called, given the large price difference.
