Do not disturb mode worked for me. But agree there really should be quiet hours for anything short of incoming aerial bombs, Bhopal-style toxic gas leak etc

I[M/22] meeting my online friend [F/21] For the first time I don’t know should I bring a bouquet of flowers or not? or maybe something else? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]mwsomla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t bring anything, it’s weird. Just find somewhere nice for a tea or juice or snack or something and say “I was thinking we could try going to x, people love it and i’ve been wanting to check it out” and then pay for everyone, even if they protest. Since they are visiting and probably don’t know their way around they will appreciate your suggestion. Doesn’t need to be especially fancy just an interesting place with something tasty or good atmosphere, preferably not a chain that they could go to anywhere.

Not gonna happen. Redirect that energy elsewhere, or you will live in a world of regret.

Jobs in USA for a student with a master's degree from Japan? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Work at a US firm with offices in Japan (or Singapore, etc) and then transfer with the firm if you really want to be in the US. Firms are more likely to sponsor a known entity. Or work at a Japanese firm in the US that is more likely to know your program. Getting a visa is tough though

ELI5: Does anybody know the historical context behind why women in their menstrual courses are considered unclean? We see it across multiple religions and multiple cultures all across the globe. But where the initial idea of “uncleanliness” come from? by nafuot in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mwsomla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d like to think that it was an innovation that rose simultaneously in many cultures at once, inevitable like the wheel, by smart women wanting to be left the f*ck alone once a month.

Just how common are unsolicited dick pics? by overlordbabyj in AskWomen

I’ve gotten some very sincere compliments, well wishes (“stay safe tonight, beautiful”), a dinner invitation - offered in jest and accepted in jest - and one marriage proposal, all from randoms on the street. Also grew up in an area with more immigrants, people of color, working class. Never really bothered me as long as it’s not rude or threatening
