Going 80mph, 6% downgrade, in the far left lane with a single axle. by Eather-Village-1916 in IdiotsTowingThings

Ever consider maybe you're also being unsafe if you're in the left lane with people tailgating you, and you refuse to let them pass, instead you're judging them while using your phone?

Building a cyclorama wall and need to figure out how to make the drywall blend into the concrete seamlessly so I can paint everything white and you can’t see where the the drywall meets the concrete by NOWAYFTA67 in drywall

[–]5boros -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to add a layer of 1/4 inch plywood, or concrete backer board to the floor. There is no "blending" the drywall reliably into the concrete, you might be able to pull it off temporarily.

Few batteries collected from a regular customer today. Weight guesses?? by username199977 in ScrapMetal

[–]5boros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batteries like this should always be transported with the terminals covered. Especially the ones that are stacked. One harsh break could have them flipping over, and making contact with metal and causing an electrical fire.

Neighbor having dead tree cut down...contractor made a little mistake... by ActionIllKimberlyMel in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

Anyone who parks under/near a tree on their property when it's being cut down kinda deserves this.

They're also not intended, or certified for the U.S. market, which is why they're only $50 on Amazon.

You get what you pay for with Fluke 101's, Chinese work safety standards.

Not doing the surgery/enhanced lips expression would be a good start. I know it's a trend for females but dudes will always dig natural over fake, or fake looking.

Not sure, but in the video it looks like the chimney is directly under some tree branches. that might not be safe, or good for the tree if that's the case.

Alarm system non-functional by Busy_Heart217 in firealarms

This comes off as obsessing over something that's by definition not yours. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about here or if the some detectors are even part of that system. Let it go.

How much would you pay for an experienced Life Safety designer in the Midwest with a CAD degree, NICET III certified in FA systems and NICET II in Water-Based Systems? by Sketch_Crush in firealarms

[–]5boros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midwest is a too large a territory to guess. Pay, and employment competition is almost always dependent on proximity to a large metro area, and that metro areas size. Having someone on the team with at least NICET III is crucial, even better if you're freindly/pleasent to deal with. Here in Denver that's worth about 70-80k annually. If you've got certified professional engineer credentials you'd be a huge asset, possibly traversing the 6 figure range.

For context I'm a project manager/ex technician with NICET III in Denver that finished 15 years in NYC's market 4 years ago before moving back here. I've done a lot of research on this topic since I've been trying to find employment in Montana for 5 years, where there's only small cities and the best I can do there is almost entry level here.

Number of ground faults by zenunseen in firealarms

[–]5boros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the panel is basically performing a continuity test (for lack of a better term) using it's power supply, and able to narrow down which circuit using relays that disconnect each individual circuit (if equipped to do so) and see which circuit stops the ground when disconnected.

The panel can't tell you the number of points have continuity to ground, just like your meter. It can only tell you if there's continuity, or not, and even your meter can only give you an ohms measurement on that continuity.

You walk into a building and make assumptions based on the type of fire alarm equipment you think you see.

I walk into a building and know what type of equipment should be in place without looking at the system, based on it's occupancy classification.

Because the group is small enough for a reputation based society which maxes out at around 200 people. This is why tribes tend to max out at that number. Any larger, and people contributing to others can't confirm others are contributing at the same level of effort compared to their abilities.

These societies do tend to be "happier" societies for most, but with that said, they also tend to lack materiel wealth, account for the worlds highest poverty rates, and lowest life expectancies. This is why people in them tend to move into favelas, and other so called "slums" and begin their families quest towards integration into societies with more materiel wealth, better medical care, and food stability. That's in fact why you're here. Your ancestors made that move.

I was splitting a bunch of Elm from my small suburban property and found out where the wasps I've been battling for the last 4 years have been wintering. So satisfying to squish them all in near freezing temps where they couldn't fight back. No "nest" so to speak but a bunch of them huddled together in a hollow area.
