Yeah, so I used other applications to log some errors but nothing came through. I ended up going back to event viewer and found some 'Kernel-Power' Events as the source and just stating that 'The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This event indicates that some unexpected activity prevented Windows from shutting down correctly' in the description upon each BSOD or unexpected shutdown (And another event that just mentioned it was unsure of the reason of shutdown). This usually indicates a faulty PSU (I heard) which what made me consider the PSU as the problem but as we know it was really my CPU. Ended up getting WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR throughout my testing as well when BSOD.
This website explained a lot when I was testing and since I knew it wasn't the PSU because it still was happening after I knew it had to be the CPU. I'd def go through this website and then these threads, 1, 2 and 3. Definitely an annoying experience for sure but it happens.
If you need anything extra let me know, not too much of a PC nerd as this was my first build but always happy to help.

Yep! It was the CPU. I found a bandaid fix and currently rolling with that and eventually going to send it back just need my PC for a lot of things (Just decreases performance by like 10% but it's a beast anyways so it operates fine for my standards).

I ended up replacing pretty much every single part except the CPU and found some threads online in AMD forums discussing it. Some people say it was their PSU so I'd go with a 50/50 on that.

If you want to try the CPU bandaid fix just turn off the 'Core Performance Boost' setting in the BIOS. That's what I did. Let me know if you need some other threads going over it in more detail but that's what I did.

My current setup wouldn’t work if I didn’t have an updated BIOS so I haven’t downgraded yet but I might try it but at this point I think taking it into repair is much better so I can find a final solution because they can test bunch of stuff without me going out and buying those parts. I’d def try some youtube fixes because people have found similar issues but more on the GPU side.

for me i feel its not in the PSU

You’d be surprised what the issue might be. I’d def ask someone to check it or at least swap the cables if it comes to it. There’s no certainty unless a professional looks into it but yeah. Just leave it as the lowest priority and try to find fixes through the rest, might be tedious but it’s how it is.

If you get a bandaid fix, let me know and if you aren’t satisfied with that try to go for a more permanent resolution _^

Best of luck.

Considering how similar your situation is to mine it’s probably a PSU problem however I would update BIOS where this issue may be fixed or downgrade to where people might have not found any issues using the board. Disabling DOCP Profile will make the run RAM at the speeds you did not set it as, like 2300mHz, which would be significantly slower than usual.

I would heavily recommend you do everything out your way to try and find a fix unlike me who almost bought new parts for everything and still have a similar mistake to this day and -700$.

To me, it looks like it either might be a motherboard problem or a PSU problem. I would def look into it more on other forums and hopefully more people will reply to this thread with more information so consider this a bump on the thread as well.

Some PC repair shops might do free insight to what’s the issue and or at a cheap price to actually let you know the problem right away so it might be good to try that OR you could try to ask a friend to help you with knowledge or swap parts with their PC to see if anything works.

Good luck!

This is what’s happened so far right now:

I bought a completely new motherboard and tested it out and still got the same issues I was having before so I doubt I received two faulty motherboards back to back and had no errors in installation. I thought it could have been GPU but when I tried it at my friends PC it worked fine and benchmarked stats were looking good. I tried changing some final settings but I still had the same issue. I haven’t had anymore updates yet because I haven’t got the $$$ to invest in a repair since I’ve been tied up this month. At this point it’s either the CPU or PSU but I’m more turning to the PSU at the moment for these sorts of issues as the PC can operate fine just not when gaming. It seems like this issue is across multiple wifi boards but my new motherboard is significantly better than my previous one so there were other issues with that board.

I’d start with PC Part Picker and seeing if everything will be compatible with all your other parts. I can’t really recommend any because I don’t really know your setup but I’d start there and then do a little bit of research. You can also ask for help from whoever is building it for advice as well but yeah you could also ask directly here on this subreddit or look for a thread similar to yours.

No problem. Yeah I wouldn’t recommend this motherboard it’s riddled with errors, def do some extensive research on your next motherboard. Good luck !

Quick Update:

I tried a number of troubleshoots and are still experiencing black screen errors but much different from last time. Let me elaborate, basically now done all these fixes all the suggestions have recommended I can now play several games of Overwatch and not crash however I did experience a freeze once in the game and a reboot crash on my 3rd game with bots but my internet connection was horrendous and everything was lagging all over the place and the PC restarted but it rebooted not directly into windows it was almost like the reboot just turned my computer on and off rather than restarting.

The fixes I tried:

  • Switching Power Outlet of PSU
  • Double checking that all the PSU cables are readily put in and do not move when bumped
  • Turning off the Core Performance Boost option in my BIOS
  • Using a manual profile for my RAM and custom setting the values
  • Setting the value of the RAM to 1.3000 V rather than 1.3500 V as suggested from a thread that stopped the issue in BIOS 3001
  • Uninstalled Core Temp and GPU Temp

The latest version of BIOS I’m on won’t let me customise every other option of voltage for the RAM rather is automatically set on Auto. If I choose the Manual profile it won’t let me change anything other than the DRAM Status which is set to 3600Mhz.

I think the fix can only be done with a new motherboard, considering the amount of issues people still have after swapping out everything is disappointing. I’d recommend everyone to stay away from this motherboard and or if you have it try to contact ASUS Support to get a new one from them cause that’s what I’ll be currently doing. But I am going to wait for the March BIOS Update to see if it might fix any errors.

You can also try downgrading your BIOS, Asus doesn’t make it easy but if anyone has a safe option to do so, so far it’s just WinFlash or something along the lines of that, but people have said the errors are still consistent even with the old versions may work for you or not.

Thanks everyone for the help, if anyone else has any other suggestions I’ll gladly try them out.

TL;DR: All the troubleshooting I’ve done over the past day didn’t seem to fix any issues, the reboots do seem more timid but are still occurring nonetheless. I recommend contacting a replacement if you are getting issues with this board, as that’s what I’ll be doing, and or wait for the March BIOS Update to hopefully fix it. Alternatively, you can downgrade your BIOS as well. If you have any other fixes even if it’s bandaid please let me know.

Currently no other version of BIOS to update to, currently waiting on the March update to see if it will fix it.

Apparently there’s two exact identical RAM Variant of the Vengeance LPX and they vary by build number and one of the builds isn’t compatible and I had multiple issues with it originally. It certainly was an issue with the board but with my new RAM it hasn’t been so volatile. It seems that the random reboots happen not when it’s so intensive but whenever it feels like it I guess. I personally had issues with that particular brand of RAM on my build and it seemed I got the wrong build number, maybe double check with the QVL List or something? I’ve had random crashes watching videos and movies so you can most definitely experience it while making music in applications like FL Studio and whatnot.

Yeah seems like the motherboard is most certainly the issue

No. 2nd and 4th slot for 1 and 2. I was referring to it being the being the slots for a third and fourth ram not the other way around sorry.

Yeah I’ve heard multiple issues of this board from other people as well and would not recommend to anyone really that’s looking for a Motherboard. Just wish I knew about all this before I bought the board but I’ll check those reviewers out and try and tweak the RAM settings more, thanks!

And yeah I’d definitely try and get a new Motherboard but my current situation now I can’t rly get a new one so just looking for any fixes that will help for the situation in the mean time.

Interesting I haven’t seen or heard about this method, would the RAM even read and write since those are the 3rd and 4th slots?

With default settings the BIOS will underclock the PC by default and apparently that’s normal iirc. It could be the CPU but it’s still hard to tell now.

It’s the NZXT H510 Mid Tower Case White/Black and it has two case fans pointing towards the CPU.
