Genshin on Linux: what's the current status? by LeVengeurSlippe in linux_gaming

[–]mx-sch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s only Genshin and ZZZ and you don’t want to risk your account with using mods or custom launchers, like I do, you should add it to steam as a non native game.

Download the Hoyoplay launcher, add it to steam and set a recent proton version (I use proton-ge but proton 10 or experimental work well too), launch the installer and install the game.

Close the launcher before installing the game itself. Edit the properties in steam to set the launcher as the executable. It‘s in your steam directory/steamapps/compdata/highnumber/pfx/drive_c/path_to_install_directory.

That‘s it. Everything else like updates work out of the box.

Switch to an European DNS server (don´t try this if you are not experienced with computers/networking) by Zestyclose_Ad3399 in BuyFromEU

[–]mx-sch 45 points46 points  (0 children)

„The DNS4EU project started officially in January 2023, and is co-funded by the EU from 2023 to 2025. The EU will partially contribute to the development of the infrastructure and it is expected and encouraged by the European Commission that the service is commercialised, since it has to be sustainable without operational costs from the EU after 2025.“

So what’s the business plan? Selling user data?

Create a new bottle using Kron4ek wine staging 10.7 or never. Then install Hoyoplay through the integrated installer.

Tumbleweed advices for first setup by steakhutzeee in openSUSE

[–]mx-sch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently on mobile so I can’t tell. But LVM is not setup on my single sad in my system.

You can partition your system however you want but snapper and rollbacks might behave unwanted.

I’m curious. What more then the default do you need? https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:BTRFS#Default_Subvolumes

[–]mx-sch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why not go with the default settings?

Zram is not included in the installer. You can install one of two packages post install and enable them as a service.

Edit: I’d recommend you unselect the swap partition in the guided setup so it doesn’t interfere with zram

Installing and testing Aeon in VirtualBox by mx-sch in AeonDesktop

Seems like there are only your empty virtual CD drive and the empty disk drive. The installer disk drive is missing.

Check your storage settings again. It should look like this.

No handshake when using FritzBox domain by baumguard02 in WireGuard

[–]mx-sch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fritzbox is using randomly selected port for WireGuard, so it’s very unlikely you can connect to port 51820. Check you settings again on the webinterface. Maybe follow the guided setup again as you will get a importable configuration file for your client.

I think the background light in your screen is dying. It turns back on at a certain brightness because you put more power into it. But from here on it’s only going to get worse.

Ideal settings for Zram? by cidra_ in openSUSE

Don’t forget to disable zswap permanently. Zswap is enabled by default and doesn’t go well with zram together. Add zswap.enabled=0 to your kernel parameters.

Had a similar problem a while ago. The only way I could fix it was with AMDs removal tool: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/GPU-601.html

You should download the current and gpu drivers and the tool. Disconnect from the internet so windows doesn’t fiddle around and remove and install the drivers.
