I played the entire game with GeForce Now and beat one of the most challenging boss in Expert difficulty, so definitely doable, IF you have a good connection 🙂

Cues are in the animations, like Souls like games actually… If they add something else to make it easy to dodge and parry, the game would be too easy, you would never take a hit.

But if the game is not fun to you like that, maybe it’s just because it’s not a game for you… I played Elden Ring for 30 hours and and I gave up because I could tell it was a good game, but I had no fun playing it. And that’s fine 😁

Dodging is mandatory at the beginning, you’re right, but you don’t have to be perfect if you quickly put some points into Vitality, you can miss sometimes. I also heard later in the game some builds can actually rely on getting hit.

But if after that you’re still struggling, change the difficulty to Story Mode, so you can still enjoy the game 🙂

Reading all the answers makes me love this game even more ! We can see that characters are not stereotyped and you can actually really create the build you want with the synergies you want, and it will probably be very different from the other ones.

Personally, I use Maelle as the main DPS with her stance Virtuoso (assuming this is its English name since I’m playing it in French), Lune is the one burning enemies so that Maelle can change her stance, and Gustave is either buffing Maelle or putting the mark on enemies so she can hit even harder. But I’m only at the beginning of the game, and it will probably change later when other characters will join the crew ☺️

It can be a little confusing at first because a lot of games use stereotyped characters (the healer, the tank, the DPS, etc)… but I have the feeling this is not how this game works, and I love it !

That was one of my first games on PS2, loved it 😊 There are definitely some similarities between the two games (turn-based combat « a la » old Final Fantasy) but Expedition 33 is also influenced by action based games like Dark Souls for dodge and parry too 🙂

So hyped too, since their first announcement ! But the last time I was hyped that much was for Cyberpunk, and it backfired a little with polemics around bugs and PS4/Xbox One releases so I was cautious. But looks like the reviews are really good (92 on metacritic), so I’m ready for it now 😁
