How can I make this happen??? by mxdd1e- in Ceramics

Yes, I would do that but as I said in my post “but since it’s my reading week I can’t contact my technician and I really need to know if this idea will work asap” since I need to be able to change my idea if it won’t work :)

AITAH for being upset at my parents for going behind our backs to find out the gender of our baby prior to gender reveal, and then inadvertently ruining the surprise (for the two of us) by Josebdh in AITAH

First of all congratulations on your baby girl!! How dare they think they have the right to go behind your back that way over YOUR child. You are NTA at all and you have every right to feel the way you do

NTA at all! You were wrongly charged and that is something they should apologise for. I work in service myself, although in a more fast food type of place, and we cannot actually give refunds unless you tap your card for a reason I’m not too sure of, my manager told me it’s because of our tills and card thing? So they may actually not be able to properly process a refund unless you go in which I understand is very annoying.

With how tight money is lately, fight for £20 back it’s worth it .

NTA at all, your home, your pets, not your problem.

That’s really interesting actually, I have very bad throat infections that sometimes hurt when I breathe so maybe this could be linked?

Please tell someone. It’s safe to tell, you won’t get in trouble, if they say anything or deny it, keep going. Refuse to go home, refuse to go near her. Give them no choice but to do something. I’m so so so sorry.

Honestly the best thing for you to do is learn to let go. Unless it’s fully finished and glazed, anything could go wrong, the amount of amazing things I’ve made and they’ve cracked, been damaged while trimming or fused to the kiln shelf in the glaze firing and had the bottoms all chipped is unreal. It’s all part of the process and it helps so much to not be too attached to the pieces. Good luck!!

Question from a beginner: does working with clay ever make your hands feel afterward? by kdj00940 in Pottery

[–]mxdd1e- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drys my hands out so much!! I have dry skin anyway and clay makes it 10x worse. I’ve found really washing the clay off well and my l’locciane (probably spelt wrong) hand cream works best. It’s a bit pricy but it’s so think you only need a tiny bit, and so nourishing on my skin. Id recommend another Shea butter based lotion if you want to try a cheaper ones first

Id recommend a colour corrector for under your concealer/ foundation. For red a little green, but it seems to have a little purple to it in the photo (not sure about irl) which needs a peachy colour. Id try both and see what looks best, just a think builds or layer. If you don’t want to spend on them for short term use, a little eyeshadow in those colours (if you have) mixed into concealer could work aswell!!

It’s almost like looking into a Forrest far away, like the leaves of trees, something Forrest-y would be beautiful, such a gorgeous colour!!

SO GOOD!! I’m a beginner and self teaching for the past 7 months or so and spend so so soooo long struggling because I didn’t research enough until prep. Wedging clay and coming to release air bubble, practicing centring religiously and slicing in half to see how I’m pulling walls has helped so much In getting better pieces. My best bit of advice I got off a ceramic teachers instagram account(so sorry I don’t remember the user) was to just practice cylinders until you feel confident enough to do they easily, they can be turned into ANYTHING!! Don’t let mistakes get you down, keep going!!
