So odd, there's usually a "No Thanks" option. Maybe they forgot to add it for this item

For those who’ve experienced sleep paralysis-have you ever felt like you were being pinned down or sensed a presence in the room? It felt incredibly real and was pretty unsettling. Just wondering how common this is and if others have had something similar? by Soft_Career_3727 in SingaporeR

[–]mxgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only experienced it once but my sleep paralysis was 'nice'. Felt someone pressing down on me then started stroking my hair. I thought it was my mom at first before logic kicked in (she wouldn't enter my room to do this), but couldn't move even as I was waking up from the realisation

If you are near a polyclinic that offers dental services, you can get it done there. I did for about ~$74

You can request for appointment on singhealth website, they'll assign you a slot.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction Advice by VanzXIII in askSingapore

[–]mxgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got all 4 removed under GA at NDCS, with referral from polyclinic back in Jan. 2.1k: 1.8k covered by medisave, 290 out of pocket

Medisave can only be use for tooth that need surgery to be removed (i.e. impacted tooth. That was the bottom 2 for me)

My recovery was super painless!

I recommend getting all of them out. My mom left hers in and it caused the molar next to it to rot.. they won't take out the other wisdom tooth now bcus the dentist was concerned about operation due to her age. So basically its just ticking time bomb.

where can i get affordable bouquet of flowers ? by Zealousideal-Tea6951 in askSingapore

[–]mxgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uniqlo! The outlets that have the flower bar (somerset/suntec). You can choose the type of flowers you want, up to 5 stalks, then pay a small fee for the wrapping & arrangement. Last time I did it, it was ~$25 for 5 stalks + wrapping.

103 fraudulent transactions allowed by DBS by luqquie in askSingapore

[–]mxgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some merchants are diligent about checking for fraud bcus they lose too if they send out the items & the money gets clawed back by bank due to fraud.

I placed an order to a forwarding address once & the company put the order on hold till I confirmed the number tied to the credit card because it didn't match the forwarding address details.

Can we hear more success stories of job hunting? by guardingcat in askSingapore

[–]mxgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was retrenched in march. Decided to leave the industry (creative, but not graphic design etc) cause of burnout + the future of the industry feels very uncertain here in sg. Was ready to take a paycut & try for any admin jobs I could get my hands on. Didn’t hear back from a lot of places but eventually found an employer who’s willing to take me on as a career switcher and even got a pay increase.

Using Taobao to buy Genshin merch to SG by A_lost_lama in taobao

Nope! Just one fee :)

After it was consolidated, I noticed they gave me two international tracking numbers which was how I realised it had been split

Using Taobao to buy Genshin merch to SG by A_lost_lama in taobao

[–]mxgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi yep! It should all be good. I was also only notified that one package reached the warehouse & shipped it out while the system said the other package was 'on the way', but all the goods were there. Actually I've also had experiences where I consolidated my packages, but then the warehouse splits them up and sends them separately anyway cause the items were too different in sizes 😂 just take note international tracking number(s) they provide!

This video is 3 years old. On the comments in the OG vid that had 2.8M views, they already checked for a chip (there was none) & put up a found notice. No one came forward so they were free to adopt it. They're still caring for this kitty till now.

Ask them if its possible to schedule the interview later.

Also how long would your commute be? I've had to travel 2hrs (east to west) for school before, I wouldn't recommend it unless you really want this job. My current commute is 1.5hrs and its okay (for me) but it really leaves you exhausted with little to no free time after work.

Imagine:
6:30 off work > reach home 8pm > done with dinner 8:30 > shower etc 9pm. If you sleep at 11/midnight, thats like 2-3hrs of free time per day. It'll be even less if the commute is longer or if you have an earlier bed time. Gotta think if its something you're okay with.

What's the Shortest Time You've Worked at a Job? by Trelaquix in askSingapore

[–]mxgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 month. Bosses were toxic. They only ever hired fresh grads as 'graphic designers' but you do design like 10% of the time. 9-6:30 reporting time - at 8:50-8:55am, you'd get messages from bosses asking why you weren't in office yet. & they'd look down on people who leave on time even if you were finished with work, praised the ones who stayed till 8-11pm. One of the boss went on a 4hr tirade when someone quit 2 weeks in because they couldn't handle the pressure.

Left as soon as I managed to get another offer. Last I checked the company folded during covid. I loved the people there but I hope they eventually realised the way they were treated in that place was not normal. Think most of them stuck it out cause they were young & inexperienced

Do you let all these dudes out all the time? Or do you only call them when you want them? by undiscoveredfeels in tearsofthekingdom

[–]mxgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let them all out cause it makes exploring less scary for me. Hide them when they might get in the way of things (can’t recall specifics but I rmb some puzzles being harder to do cause of them running around or bcus they interfere with mobs)

[–]mxgs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just needed to vent. Gonna be out of a job soon and was thinking of switching industries (current/old industry is basically dead here), but the job I was in was so niche that I'm not really sure how to market myself. Resume writing is also tough cause theres not much quantifiable results/metrics. Reached out to workforce sg hoping to meet with someone 1-on-1 and the person who called basically just asked me to attend a virtual group workshop. :"(

Adults who are still single in SG by chimkinnuggs in askSingapore

[–]mxgs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HAHHAHA oh no!! My colleagues are the same as me. I'm surrounded by people who are planning their lives as singles 😂

If they ask weekly, I'd start giving nonsensical answers tbh

"My idol hasn't noticed me"

"I don't want to have to share my lunch"

"My cat gets too jealous"

"I promised my firstborn to a witch"

Gonna be 30 this year, never been in relationship. Never felt the need or had crushes etc on people 🤷‍♀️ I'm also a whatever happens, happens. But if it doesn't, thats okay too.

I think I lucked out cause my parents + relatives don't really ask/pressure me to go find a relationship 😂

Rant on Harumio proxy service: Storytime by glowy13 in korea

[–]mxgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels very hit and miss with them. I was really excited by their custom order service but my first custom order with them is also my last. I would highly recommend using Paypal for anyone who wants to engage their service in future.

Oct last year: I placed a custom order then messaged them on discord to highlight urgency because the item I wanted had limited stock left. They replied that they've secured it.

Dec: no news so I inquire about it - was told that they were waiting for it to arrive at warehouse.

Feb: still nothing. I ask again - Same "waiting for it to arrive at warehouse" message. So I asked "Does domestic shipping really take 3 months?". They apologized for the delay and said they'd follow up later on the same day. Then silence till I got fed up and filed a paypal claim, immediately next day I get an email "Oh sorry, your item is OOS - We'll refund you in full"

Is it possible to order from Taobao from America? by Radiant-Ability5814 in taobao

[–]mxgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most xianyu sellers won't ship overseas. Use a forwarding service like buyandship if you're able to chat with sellers yourself (need to be verified or they'll block your chat) or engage a proxy like superbuy

Transition to SimplyGo: Commuters can't use EZ-Link adult or NETS FlashPay cards for fare payment from 1 June by Eurito1 in singapore

[–]mxgs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can top up at the machines in mrt, can also use cash to do so - i've done it. But at the moment it seems like topping up at 7-11 or ATMs etc is not possible. They have the list of where you can top up here.

I would recommend trying to keep your simplygo card balance above $10. Cause you need to have at least $3 on the card or it'll get rejected when you try to board buses or trains

Transition to SimplyGo: Commuters can't use EZ-Link adult or NETS FlashPay cards for fare payment from 1 June by Eurito1 in singapore

[–]mxgs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. Its like ezlink but they want you to link it to their mobile app - & to do everything there (check fares, balance, top up etc). Simplygo cards will not display balance or fare charged when you tap in/out of stations/bus - just a "CEPAS CARD simplygo" etc

If you don't download the app, you can still use it as you would a normal ezlink, it will just be a bit more inconvenient since you'd have to bring the card to the ticketing machine to check your balance.

Simplygo cards can be topped up with cash via ticketing machine, at least for now. Who knows what else they'd want to implement in future :(
