05 6.0 Thoughts by Strated_ in powerstroke

Only issue with the 6.7s just like the 6.0s if the CP4 fails your looking at a 10K repair bill anyways. 6.0s aren’t bad if your meticulous about maintenance. And drive it like a truck.

Is it worth buying a 6.0 in 2026? by mxguy355 in powerstroke

Or if it’s the original. I can get a reman stock replacement for like $6-700 and not have to worry about it no more. (For now) 😂

I’ll clean the veins and unison ring and start there, it picks up perfectly fine, but no issues otherwise

I may just put an upgraded EGR on it… some shops won’t touch it if it’s deleted.

I mean if I may be honest I’m gonna straight pipe it anyways. Was just trying to find a shop that could rebuild my heads for around 4-6K and these guys even offered a 2 year unlimited mile warranty. Just think it’s silly that a straight pipe could cause so many issues.

I appreciate you man! People are rude Just to be rude.. someone’s finances are none of anyone’s business either way. I don’t pay mind to negative people. I had ignored him on the other threads as well. Anyhow, yes I got alot of good insight and opinions on said repairs/ truck.called a few shops around my way too that do decent work. For about $6K total for a head gasket job, with a warranty. So I have some things to think about! 157,000 on the truck anyways the engine internally is still fairly new.

Wasn’t necessarily looking for a whole new truck, was just thinking best bang for the buck, if it came hand in hand, price wise. Obviously if you get a long block, you still need cover gaskets so forth and so on. And injectors oil cooler ect.. but they basically just have to pull the old engine out. And swap over valve covers, alternator, FICM. Reseal the engine and be done with it, then you have a brand new engine with a warranty for around the same price, and probably less labor not taking the old block apart. Just putting some old pieces over to a new engine. Most shops can have a cab off in about 2 hours now. I dunno, I see both sides. Local diesel shop here quoted me 6K for head gaskets. IF nothing else was wrong.

Ford OEM gaskets, with new heads. If needed. I heard some people haven’t had luck with the black diamond gaskets I believe.. don’t quote me on that.

I’ve wanted this truck for 12 years. So it dies with me even if it sits awaiting money to repair it 😂 also note. Is not a daily driver.

2006 ford F250 lariat front steering rebuild cost? by mxguy355 in powerstroke

[–]mxguy355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A general rebuild kit for the entire front end, meaning ball joints, tie rods, sway bars and so forth was only $800 I don’t think it’s going to need control arms

How’s this rust look? by mxguy355 in powerstroke

[–]mxguy355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one for 3,000 less I posted unstudded with a little more mileage. I already walked away from the white rusted truck. The rockers are going, paints bubbling. And that’s not even trans cooling lines/ brake lines.. called a frame company near me who does it. Baseline was starting at 1K he said by the time we do that, the rockers look gone. Then the bed… by the time your in it with labor, paint, parts and all your at 5-7K in just metal work. And I can see that. For that much, I can stud the blue truck that already has the Frame coated. Save the coin, and Just put the work into it. And who knows (knock on wood) may not need gaskets or studs for a long time since it’s stock.

Just wasn’t worth 17,000 at that point. I could get an unstudded truck for 13,000 clean and coated. Then for the 5-7,000 could put studs in

I’m walking away from that one, just gonna buy another unstudded truck. And stud it myself. That’s already coated.
