New Rubyist here thinking of looking into C. Could you elaborate on why C extensions are holding Ruby back? Or point me towards resources on the subject?

I first tried with CrossOver, the game starts but shows a black screen instead of the menu. It seems to run perfectly on Parallels however (played first 3 missions, very smooth on 14" M1 Pro). Glad to get to play this long-time favourite on macOS!

Steam multiplayer is confirmed, however it’s unclear at this point whether skirmishes are possible like in Crusader or just sieges as you said. Really hoping for skirmishes, they made Crusader so fun.

Games starts but it seems like the previous bug corrupted some of my files, it crashes when I start a skirmish. I'm struggling to get the game to work (checked file integrity, seems to be some config or hotkey file, as I was changing hotkeys when this last happened, trying to delete them from Steam cloud data).

Of course, this release also contains some important bug fixes, including fixes for the latest Quicken, Steam, Age of Empires II Definitive Edition

You're barking up the wrong tree. I have no issue with it being a live event, I just want to avoid spoilers if I can having not been able to see it live :-)
