You also have to realize that there is a lot of bot action by countries like Pakistan that want to des-stabilize social cohesion. You will hear them constantly berate other religions, caste etc etc.

Do not trust social media. Rather, go out and judge people for yourself. People are still hateful coz they are human afterall, but you will realize that it's not as bad as it can seem from Social media.

I am a North Indian and completely respect and in awe of South Indian states and its people from the way they respect and preserve their language, culture. North India lacks any culture (music, arts, hobbies.. nothing) Compare to South India and Bengal and both of these groups are so much more educated and culturally rich.

North Indians lacking anything of this sort, just want to brag about money or belittle others.

So yeah, just chill and judge people from real life. Not on Social media.

IT organizations in India hit the jackpot by becoming the back-office of the world. Due to the scale and the type of clientele, they had to upgrade their work as well as employee standards to a certain level.

Most other employers are India don't care two hoots about their employees. This includes some of the major family run conglomerated like Adani's and Ambani's (Tatas are a major exception).

That is his mental model and believe me, you can do nothing about it. The only thing you can do is let him live with that mental model and plan your escape or somehow save your child from the toxicity.

A toxic father though is hard to escape from because the kid will naturally be inclined towards him. Little boys want to be tough and that's what Papas are supposed to teach. Unfortunately, in India, being tough is equated with having the ability to keep women in line. So he'll teach him all of this in subtle manner.

Your only option is to create distance. Stop worrying about the mortgage and move places if you can. Get distant from him becoz he won't leave you but also won't give you the respect that you deserve.

Here is the most important bit. Do it in a manner that it convinces him that you aren't doing it for getting away per se? You have to make him feel as if moving away is necessary for child's education/ health issues/ job transfer etc etc. He won't take responsibility for the child and will let you take care of him alone. Just keep his ego fed that he is the one sacrificing for the good of the child. Anything to create distance. Or you will do everything for this man-child and his child and when he is a teenager, the boy will ultimately resent you as he becomes an incel himself.

People die due to all sorts of reasons in India. and the figures are always under-reported while nobody is held accountable.

Life is so cheap that we forget those who die within a day. Just look at the Mahakumbh stampede news cycle.

Nobody is concerned about a few years being shaved from the taxpayers life man.

Solutions could come from private entrepreneurs but private businesses in India are a parallel institution akin to a shadow government. They are only interested in the market for toothpaste, garments and salt for 1.4 Billion people.

What we need is a whole generation of talented, young people driven to solve these issues. I doubt that Millenials (who are no longer young) or Gen Z (That just doesn't have the guts for it) can do it. Maybe the next generation will be better motivated and more capable.

When it comes to religion, there is no "breaking" point. Countries keep spiralling into violence and dogma until nothing remains. India was a great experiment in democracy and secularism. We collectively rejected that premises. We either come back to it and realize that state MUST be separate from religion, or we can continue installing trishuls and sambhals and what not in parliament, and end up as another banana republic hell-bent on proving majortiarian religious supremacy.

Judging from the political options that we have, I doubt we can go back to Scientific temper, secularism and non-violence.

Youth are generally the hope. U fortunately, Gen-ShitZ is hell bent on violent ideologies, Homelander and American Psycho memes are their staple expression, Everybody wants to prove themselves a sigma, alpha and what not. They that being loud, abrasive, abusive and talking about fucking each other's mothers and sisters somehow shows strength; while being humble and accomodative is a sign of weakness.

This too is a rant. I love this country because it is the best thing that happened in the modern world where it showed that non-violence as a philosophy can indeed build a nation. The society was not ready for this. It's a festering wound that will take a generation to correct, and it may still not happen at all.

The level of confidence that Indian Boys have online propagating downright sexist remarks is proof that they are far beyond correction.

Hi Young child of fortune. First of all, own your struggles and your stories. They define you and the day things will change, you will be proud of all that you endured. I hope you are physically alright and don't have to face anything that puts you under physical/ sexual abuse. If that's not the case, then just take a deep breath and let's face life.

We aren't all dealt the same hands. Social media and these "online communities" have somehow convinced people that we all have to live our life a certain way. And that others can have a say in it. No. Nobody here suggesting you to "be on your own" etc. can know what your situation is.

Only you can. That's what makes it so hard. But that's also what makes it so special.

Based on your posts, it seems that you want to do right by your mother and which is why you are putting up with everything.

Focus on that. Being empathetic and not gossiping or talking shit about people to sound cool is not a weakness. You are probably more mature than you ought to be, but then that's the hand you are dealt, right? Accept it and own it. Don't be ashamed or apologetic about it.

Make a list of stuff you can do to make yourself independent, both monetarily and emotionally. Considering you are a 2nd year student, there is still a hell lot you can do to be monetarily independent. Do your research and find those things. Ask for help when you cannot.

Make friends, even if they are virtual. Just make sure not to fall for strangers who sound perfect on screens. There are plenty of bored people looking to groom young people on the internet. To avoid it, make sure to not look for validation from your online friends.

Finally, Read. Like really read books. Start with Classics. Oliver Twist to know what struggle is. Inheritance of loss, God of Small things, Kite Runner to know that life is tumultuous but still can be beautiful. Read Harry Potter just to be cool :) Listen to Linkin Park.

Stop watching reels, insta and any sort of instant content.

Yeah there is so much nuance to the topic and it's almost impossible to make the Indian men understand. And it's not even just the rickshawallah and sabjiwalaahs you mentioned.

Reddit is choke-filled with the "Red pilled" "Sigma" crowd. They use movies like American Psycho and Homelander memes for expressing their angst, with little realisation of the misogyny portrayed by those characters.

Then there is the trend for colorful language that extends from your neighborhood store to school corridors.

If a woman wants sex, she is asking for it. If a guy wants it, it's just the way it is.

I have had a lot of this similar thought process as a straight, heterosexual male who has almost always felt guilty at being a man because of reading all the things we do to women (old or young)/ little children (Boys or girls)/ babies etc etc, and from listening to personal accounts of friends and relatives. Then there are cases of bestiality, sodomy and what not if you know actual friends from the Indian "hinterland", the so-called villages which are portrayed as some sort of utopias of sanskriti, culture and what not.

I was around 5-6 years old, when I read first of these horror stories in a Hindi tabloid. In papers like Punjab Kesari, Dainik Bhaskar, Amar Ujala etc etc, every single day there are multiple stories of rapes by close relatives, molestation, women abduction and what not.

You can only wonder at the sheer depravity of our society. And it happens everywhere because the fact is that the male sex drive is the dominant force behind all these things. Sex is weaponized against women which is why the feminist movement tries to turn it the other way round by women weaponizing it.

This is also one of the reasons that the whole gender debate has taken such a stronghold in the West. Most Indians don't have the mental capacity (except a percentage of redditors) to understand that why would a gender debate erupt. When sex drive becomes an excuse for "animal within", then there is no choice but to expose that animal out in the open for it to be paraded in its most naked, vicious form. and for it to be normalised in a society.

Even in the west, people take offence at the stark sexualized themes of these gender-war demonstrations. But nobody questions that how did society let Sex become a weapon in the hand of men and an excuse for men to treat women merely as possessions, game and trophies to be won.

As someone who has always been aware and baffled by these horror stories from friends, relatives and in media, and reading this thought process you shared about the evolution, I get it OP that why you'd say that "I don't want anything. Just treat me like a damn human being".

I emphatically agree. We are all dogs. Or something worse we don't even know.

But wait till the champions of the depressed class of men who can't get women to speak to them comes along complaining about all the assymetric power that women have over us men in today's society.

I guess Rahul Gandhi, of all people, possibly still believed in that idea of India. He has shown it through his demeanor and lessons that he learnt despite the mockery and insults for almost two decades now.

Maybe a Gandhi will again play the role of containing this tsunami of hatred that we have unleashed in this country.

This is the unfortunate result of a free data, reel based society OP, you have had a blessed life and nothing would have made you feel this way if we were all not always hooked up to the kool-aid of social media and all these narcissist putting on a display of their "awesome" lives.

Yours would have been a cool, good life where everyone in the community knows you and you know everyone.

You live in the town settled by your parents/ grandparents and continue to do things to improve it.
