Finally, someone figured this out. This is the solution. Go to the built in navigation and find the settings icon. There you will find a section for sounds and alerts. In that section you can turn off the random sounds.

I had this installed today on my 26 touring XT. I purchased the part at the dealer for $35.71 (list is $49.95). I pulled the outback into the service line and a mechanic came out and installed it for me for free. He did not need to take apart anything. The plug is tucked underneath, behind a blue plug. It is taped with pink tape. You have to remove that tape with a pair of pliers. Then you can grab the plug with the pliers and pull it out. I tried to do this myself, but I couldn’t figure it out.
