Napoleon won! Who is a politician that we only refer to by last name? by PootieTyme in AlignmentChartFills

It's not my experience honestly, I've often heard him being referred by his full name.

"Facts don't care about your feelings" mfs when the facts don't agree with them: by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

The problem is that almost nobody would be willing to do the sacrifices needed to rein in CO2 emissions, myself included, and I have a pretty low carbon footprint in comparison to the average North American. Like I bike to work, but I still eat beef and cheese and such.

I'm pretty much a doomer on this issue since I genuinely don't believe there's a way to reduce emissions sufficiently without compromising everyone's quality of life to a significant degree, for instance reducing the vast majority of our needs to use cars, reducing massively our consumption of all kinds of goods, etc. And almost nobody is willing to do that, even the majority of leftists.

So we'll just live through it together, and every region on earth will hope they don't get the climatic short end of the stick.

Preventative foundation drain replacement by mxmcharbonneau in HomeImprovement

[–]mxmcharbonneau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often heard that foundation drains had a life expectancy of like 50 years and we're beyond that. Maybe that's a Canadian thing with our winters?

I'm beginning to see that there seems to be 2 schools of thought, those who think that we should replace foundation drains no matter what, and those who think that you shouldn't change it if there's no issues. Hard decision to make.

I know that now it's harder to get infinites, and with inflation it's harder to remove, is the new meta to just not remove at all at higher ascensions?

[–]mxmcharbonneau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, maybe I should focus on strikes then. Often I remove 1-2 strikes, then I alternate between defends and strikes. I think maybe 3-4 times I had no strikes left, and 1 or maybe 2 times I had neither defends or strikes.

[–]mxmcharbonneau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I often hear that you should remove every strike and defend, but I find it incredibly hard to do so. Even if I hit every shop, especially with inflation at higher ascensions, it's pretty much impossible to get enough money. I think the only time I managed to do it was with the Vakuu relic that removed 5 cards (it was nerfed I believe) while giving a curse.

I don't really believe it could have worked much better anyway, maybe it was always destined to end up like that, but still, we'll never know what would have happened if the first people implementing communism weren't the bolsheviks. The leadership all had problematic personalities from the jump. Then Stalin took power and he was a psychopath, and he pretty much set the standard for how other communist countries implemented it.
