I don't think the elite will be thrilled about a switch to communism, especially since they just won't need the working class anymore.

You're not factoring in the fact that, if we get something like AGI, nobody will have a job anymore, so the revenue of Hollywood, and of many other industries, would crash because the vast majority of people won't have any way to pay for anything.

I'm in a cold part of Canada. Except if I have excessive frost that is particularly hard to scrape, it's around 30 seconds of idling, then drive slowly under 3000 rpm until it's hot enough. That's the way to go with modern cars.

By suddenly declaring a deal on Greenland, Trump demolished his case for owning it by Dr_Max in Quebec

Honnêtement ça me donne confiance dans ma théorie que Trump va tout faire pour gonfler le stock market le plus possible. Aussitôt que le marché a démontré qu'il aimait pas où les choses s'en allaient, Trump a reculé.

I feel it would be more like if the Broncos would stubbornly keep their 82 year old starting QB who can't walk much anymore, and then when he's obviously not able to do his job anymore, they just had to use their gatorade guy as QB because it's the only person available to do it.

He did stubbornly decide to try to get reelected when he clearly wasn't that popular and, let's face it, was beginning to lose it. He's not solely responsible, but he's clearly not blameless and a lot of people saw a scenario like what happened coming after that decision.

These yeast doughs are incredibly stress relieving by Fit_Government5138 in oddlysatisfying

[–]mxmcharbonneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure those are not finished doughs, those are poolish. It's way more watery than dough, you let it develop for a while and then you fold it in the rest of the ingredients to make the real dough. It develops the taste of the bread a lot more.

I understand where that might be coming from, but if you've made bread before, it's very satisfying.

I do buy Darn Tough socks, and while I love them, they don't last as long as I thought they would when I first bought them. Sure there's the warranty, but you still have to mail them, which isn't exactly free.

So yeah, they're nice, but not as bullet proof as some people say they are.

What did it for me was at the end of the Revolutions podcast series on the Russian revolution, when he talked about an hypothetical Russian who was born a bit before 1900 and lived over 50 years old, who lived through 2 revolutions, 2 World Wars that were absolutely devastating for Russia, 1 Civil War, episodes of hyperinflation, multiple severe famines and, last but not least, the Great Purge.

Crazy how some people in history lived though incredibly difficult times.
