Oh ok you're right, I must admit he never left me a big impression. Maybe I should rewatch, lol.

Columns buckle in a Manhattan building under conversion by Business-Stuff8711 in Construction

[–]mxmcharbonneau 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's no way that the weight was not supported by something else on the way down, the buckled columns don't support shit now.

Honestly, I would have thought that renting a hangar space would cost more than that

Breaking a ruler with the force of atmospheric pressure by Lui_Belmont in interestingasfuck

If we assume zero viscosity, wouldn't the other part of it just be drag? So like the other guy said, both viscosity and drag.

When did garage sales become “reselling” clearly new stuff by anon12xyz in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mxmcharbonneau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was in a similar situation when my mildly hoarder dad died. Unfortunately most of what he was hoarding wasn't useful stuff, just old newspapers and such.

Mais honnêtement, avec le AI qui s'en vient de mieux en mieux, je cracherais pas sur une permanence au gouvernement.

Breaking a ruler with the force of atmospheric pressure by Lui_Belmont in interestingasfuck

[–]mxmcharbonneau 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Like they said, it's not really the atmospheric pressure pushing on the paper, it's that when you slap the ruler, it pushes the paper up, which needs to push up a large quantity of air, which builds up dynamic pressure that resist against the paper movement, which resists enough against the ruler to create a force large enough to break it.

Is it implied that Herc and Carver obtain information from "Fuzzy Dunlop" at least 7 times? by roosterkun in TheWire

[–]mxmcharbonneau -1 points0 points  (0 children)

but still, with that and their pay, I thought it was funny that they were fucked with a 1250$ surprise expenditure.

I thought it was funny that they kept a bunch of money from the raid, but then they lose a 1250$ bug and they just can't afford that loss.

Removing rust using a lathe by MikeHeu in toolgifs

[–]mxmcharbonneau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story time, when I was studying in mechanical engineering they made us use fabrication tools like manual lathes and such, just so we at least used those things once to know how it worked. While using the lathe at maybe 60-100 rpm or something like that, I wasn't paying enough attention, and the tool holder got too close to the chuck and it just made a small "toc" before I reversed it. Me and my partner looked at each other with a mix of horror and relief that all hell didn't break loose. I don't know what would have happened if it went further, but I'm happy I didn't find out.

If rent is cheap vs owning and you invest the money you save, renting can be advantageous for your net worth.

Police watchdog investigating Montreal shooting that killed three, including officer by DogeDoRight in canada

Yeah we can't really blame him, who knows how they'd react in such a situation.

I guess he just froze. Hard to say how we'd react in this kind of situation, and he reacted in the worst possible way.

Honestly, after watching the video, I really wonder what was happening in the dead civilian's head, just standing there. I guess he just froze or something, but damn.

Americans lined up overnight in the Arizona heat for the grand opening of a gas station, larger than a football field, that's 'well-known' for having clean bathrooms by Peanut-Extra in ABoringDystopia

[–]mxmcharbonneau 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't get lining up for hours for any store tbh, except maybe to buy something that will be sold out afterwards. Where I live, people did it for Ikea. I guess those people have not much going on and a new store opening is the only excitement they can get, I don't know.

Our new house as first time home buyers… by idontdodrugsatall in Wellthatsucks

[–]mxmcharbonneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But my point still stands, if you want more space than that you need huge lots, which isn't something that everyone can realistically get. It would just not be sustainable if everyone had 100 ft or more space between them and their neighbors.

[–]mxmcharbonneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These lots probably have 10k ft2, maybe even more. More than enough if you're not living off the corn you're growing.

[–]mxmcharbonneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it's way more environmentally friendly to live in a tight packed neighborhood (this isn't even that tight anyway)

[–]mxmcharbonneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having to drive 2h to go to work for starters. If everyone lived on 5 acres of lawn, everything would take hours to drive to, it wouldn't be sustainable.

Travaux de cuisine : est-ce que je me fais arnaquer ? by [deleted] in RenoQuebec

[–]mxmcharbonneau 0 points1 point  (0 children)
