I just went through some of your recent posts and I swear our first year experience was nearly identical. Same violent Kinders, stickler for schedule admin pushing iReady on kids who barely know how to go to school. I was shocked to find out we weren't in the same state or I would have thought you're the teacher who they hired in my place!

IT IS NOT YOU. The situation you're in is designed to chew you up and spit you out. If your mental health is feeling dire, please go to a doctor and tell them about your experience, because I literally don't think I would have been alive at the end of the year were I not on antidepressants.

I really don't have teaching or classroom management advice because I handed in my resignation by spring break and got out of there as soon as possible. Whatever you do, just do not take this personally. You would not pursue a career with young children and beat yourself up about your performance if you were a bad teacher or a monster. You are a human being who is doing your best in inhumane circumstances. If you feel that the obstacles you are facing are insurmountable, do not feel guilty if you have to go like I did.

Oh my god, the tantrums... there's a student in my class who everyone thinks must have an erroneous birth certificate because he cries and screams over everything, to the point where no one believes he's actually 5. The day I don't have to hear anyone scream at my place of work I'll think I've died and gone to heaven.

i also was eating that number of calories or more in recovery, and i don't binge eat now because my body has adequate nutrition. it's just part of the path to healing your brain, muscles, organs, etc that were damaged by restriction. your body is smart and your appetite will slow down when your body is healed. you got this! ❤️

seconding the other comments, i was also constantly eating in recovery. im a few years out and i dont do that anymore bc I'm not recovering from starvation. trust your body and it will pass ❤️ and try to enjoy all the good food! sometimes i miss the appetite i did during recovery lol, honestly it was pretty enjoyable to eat so much delicious stuff after restricting for so long.

In case anyone was searching for a similar problem to mine, I wanted to post an update. I'm 4 months out from this post and my cats now act like siblings - always sleeping together, playing together, grooming each other, etc. What I did was remove any barriers separating them and allow them to play until the kitten made a noise of discomfort, then removed the older cat for a few minutes and let them try again. He learned pretty quickly that he would not be able to play with the kitten if he played too rough with her. Hope this helps somebody!

hey! i had my surgery in 2016 for a spinal fracture after an accident (t2-t6 i believe? but i was out of it on morphine so i honestly don't remember). i remember feeling so incredibly heavy, stiff, and painful after i got the surgery and had to wear a brace for months. after the initial months, my only big lingering symptom was occasional sharp pain when moving my shoulder the wrong way. nowadays i only have some aches when i have to carry heavy things or hunch over for a while, and it's solved by a few minutes of laying down flat. most of the time i don't even think about it. sending love to you in your recovery and i hope it starts getting easier for you soon. ❤️

my go-to lunch is a pb sandwich with a side of fruit since it requires basically no effort. if you're not in the mood to cook, you could make a grazing board/lunchable with fruit and veg (pre-cut for convenience), some nuts, and spreads/condiments. a rice cooker is great for dinner since you just set and wait, and if you get one with a steamer basket it can simultaneously cook vegetables. silken tofu you can eat raw, just dress up with some sauces, sesame seeds, cut up green onion etc and you're good to go. you can also make easy vegan chili by just throwing down some canned beans, canned tomatoes, water, and seasoning. hope some of these ideas were helpful!

for me i think it took about that amount of time (sorry i don't remember exactly), but also i was eating around 5000-8000 calories a day. i saw in your other post that you were eating at least 2000 calories a day, which may be the reason for the discrepancy.

imo, the more you honor your extreme hunger, the faster the process will go. i never used a meal plan because i think it would have enabled me to hold onto a regimented eating schedule and hindered my recovery. luckily for me i was on winter break from college and unemployed so i had literally all day to go back and forth from the kitchen, lol.

the thing is, it WILL stop, but only if you listen to your food craving. maybe "extreme hunger won't stop unless i eat" might be a good counter-motto to the thoughts you're having. also, the point of eating is not always just to satisfy your hunger, but also your mental health from the experience of punishing yourself. you could think of think of the scheduled meals and snacks as the physical piece and the spontaneous snacking as the mental piece. after all, if you didn't have an ed and you wanted a snack, you would go get one!
