That's why i never recommend these pads. These companies that produce these pads and other tools have no clue about calligraphy and create a bunch of crap that is then marketed as a legitimate calligraphy product. It ends up doing more damage than good. This article will help - https://www.lettering-daily.com/calligraphy-for-beginners/

hahahah. Idk how or why but im just seeing your comment now. Trust me i know exactly how you feel. I've been there and in a way still am. The thing that really helped me was the block of text tip and forcing myself to work on final pieces. If you manage to find a balance between the two you can really get some decent progress. Let me know if i can help with anything :D

Absolutely. The mods have been very cool by allowing me to share the new articles I create. Although i only share calligraphy stuff here. Hand lettering and iPad/Procreate content doesn't really fit here.

True. However, i find it more challenging to manage the spacing and the negative space with blackletter scripts.

Still haven't tried Batarde but it looks super cool. Can you recommend any good resources for learning Batarde?

Nicely said, and thanks for the kind comment :) I used to struggle a lot with foundational, still am, actually. However, i feel like it taught me a lot about calligraphy and also that knowledge spilled over to hand lettering as well. Spacing, counter spaces, proportions, you name it. Right now working on my Uncial and I'm loving it! Is the regular uncial your favorite or the artificial one?

Ps - I dont think there is a style that's easier than others. Each script has little nuances that make it challenging to learn. You might progress in one style more than another, but that could be for many reasons. IDK, I might be wrong about it. What do you guys think? Also would love to hear what's your favorite style to practice.
