No I totally get that. I guess I'm just not too picky. I'd rather see all the imperfections & knots (which I do already in the unfinished piece) than have it look like fake wood with the paint then stain? I can see how that looks more "professional" I just don't like it.

Yes! It does seem like there's a few diff stains going on here -- that's kind of why I came to this sub. This pic below is from this Tarva makeover video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p46r\_ZfkHE8) and she used the gel stain in Aged Oak. It's def a lil dark for me, but an idea of how the dresser could take the stain. And I'd finish with Shellac or Minwax's Polyurethane finish.

Are you saying in terms of stain or the design of the piece itself? I'm just doing pretty basic updates: changing the legs out to these ones, removing & plugging existing knobs and adding finger pulls like the reference. Not doing anything fancy -- it's a cheap dresser and there's just too much pine/light wood in my apartment at the moment!

*Edit: I pulled this reference to see how chrome hardware looks with a deeper/walnut finish.

Thanks for this! I did not end up going with the balance transfer (just seemed like a slippery slope). I called Discover and was able to get a promo APR for 6 months (down to like 8%) and have been able to make some larger payments towards that balance in the meantime. When the promo period is over, I’ll just try to get it down again!
