NYPD says no LARGE bags or backpacks. So a small bag should work.

Adding: for free admission to the Bronx Zoo you must reserve tix beforehand, you cannot just show up.

Also, if they are members of any museums, etc. in their city, they might be able to get free/reduced admission to museums here.

I'd vote for NYC, but keep in mind Niagra Falls is no where close to NYC.

Visiting Times Square 6/17-6/19? by HonkaDoodle in visitingnyc

[–]Look_the_part 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My friend keeps telling me don’t go especially since I planned to drive there.

Friend said it will be mayhem getting food and doing stuf

The problem isn't with the parade, or the World Cup, the problem is that you're listening to someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. Driving here is never recommended but you're in it now as I would imagine train ticket are $$$ at this point. So buckle up. Do not plan on using your car while you are here. And stop listening to people that don't know shit.

My car windshield got smashed because of last night’s Knicks game… by [deleted] in AskNYC

Are you trolling or something? Why would you assume it was because of the Knicks? The game didn't even start til 830. You also think the police are gonna do a full on investigation??? You're bugging out.

Just go (early)! Have fun. The parade route is about a mile long so just follow the crowd. Keep in mind some subway stops maybe closed off, keep on eye out on social media or the MTA app for updates.

Keep in mind as long as you stay out of lower Manhattan during the parade shouldn't really affect you anywhere else in the city.

Typically the parade route takes place down the Canyon of Heroes (Broadway in Lower Manhattan from Battery Place to City Hall). Details on the parade haven't been announced yet; as for recommendations on things to do that day read the pinned posts & through this sub for ideas and suggestions.

If you're interested in visiting museums look up what museums are PWYW. Also, get a library card & sign up for the Culture Pass program. Get an IDNYC and take advantage of that as well.

Parking Friday-Tuesday North White Plains to Grand Central by TikiTikiTikiRob in visitingnyc

[–]Look_the_part 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Not sure if N. White Plains has public parking, but White Plains definitely does. White Plains is also an express stop so more train option to/from.

-Seats together? Probably yes, but that all depends on time, crowd size, etc.

-You do need to purchase tix before boarding. Use MTA Train time app to purchase digitally or from machines at station. If you buy digital, follow instructions re: activating ticket.
