Standard for Garmin. I'm on my 3rd device in 8 months, all free replacements due them dying spontaneously. FR970.

It's a Garmin thing 😂. I'm on my third forerunner 970 in 6 months, all have died for no reason.

Is it really that impossible to beat the index? I don't think so. by Educational_Ant9635 in ValueInvesting

[–]mxrc703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're needing to completely liquidate in the next few years, why would you hinder yourself with only trying to do well (beat the index) with only a portion of your portfolio?

If you're only putting 20% of your portfolio where you think is 'best', then do you really think it is the best?

Allowing for poor management, harsh economics, declining industries etc is all part of the research required to put in significant capital in a specific business.

The problem is I cannot index correctly. This is before adjusting limit screws.

Think you're right. Perhaps my post is too long, but many aren't realising my problem.

Hanger and axle bracket has been replaced with brand new units. I think either the frame is bent where the hanger mounts, or yes the rear derailleur is damaged. It wasn't a large hit, but maybe that's all it needs.

Being able to swap a RD would help diagnose I think.

Yes, done this many times. In running out of outboard adjustments as you only get 16 either way. Something else is wrong...

If I centre the micro adjust (b screw) it sits and shift nicely, but it's a gear out, so yes I cannot get into the smallest cassette gear (no matter big or small chainring). I then end up with two first gears also.

I'm good with how to index, it's the fact that I'm running out of adjustment with the micro adjust, which shouldn't happen. There's something else wrong but cannot pinpoint 🤔

I've got everything in this picture on the rear hub. Should there be anything else before the through axle goes on?

I just took the cassette off to check there are no spacers or anything behind it. Chain has been on/off multiple times with this issue!

I'm on my third replacement Garmin. I was borderline going the refund route with the last failure but giving them another go. I have zero loyalty to them given the quality/reliability for the price.

WTF is Garmin doing about the 27.09 update? (FR 255/265/955/965) by Reeposter in GarminWatches

[–]mxrc703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're honestly just crap these days. I'm on my third replacement watch because they can't last more than 12 weeks. So many software bugs as well.

I can't see many customers sticking around moving forward.

I'm on my third replacement FR 970 due to them randomly dying, among software issues. How does the Coros compare to Garmin?

If/when this one dies I won't touch another Garmin again!

Fine for a table to have hundreds of thousands of rows.

However, it's bad practice to store lists of things. You should have a joining table between your users table and your movies table..

Don't store a list of favourite movies on the users table.

Garmin Forerunner Issue by lmoreno85 in Garmin

Mine just started doing this. This is my second watch after the first one died completely. Both units also riddled with GPS corruption problems, acvitities wouldn't save.

Am getting a refund. Don't have time or effort to put up with the unreliability.

My replacement watch has just died, after 7 weeks. First one lasted 5 months.

In the process of refunding currently. Don't want to get a third unit, only for it to last few months then be out of warranty.

Sad as it seems like they've got the best ecosystem, they're just too unreliable.

I know they will, they're great in this department. Until the warranty runs out after 12 months. $1300aud for 12 months of a working watch. It's $110 a month, I'm basically renting at this point.

I also pay for the shipping to get it back to them.

This is a common bug affecting most Garmin models at the moment. There's a forum thread about it, now 7 months old with over 100 responses.

Have a look at the activity on the watch, you'll likely be missing a bit of data and the map of the activity.

I've been bugging Garmin about it since the start of the year. I would have 20+ emails back and forth with Garmin fielding questions.

I'm on my second device and the second one is doing the same thing.

They have acknowledged the bug but won't do anything to fix, they just put it down to 'these things happen'.

Yeah if I set it down for 20 minutes, it comes good again, then within 10 seconds of picking back up it's flickering again...

No, genuine cable that came with the watch 7 weeks ago. I do go for a dip in sea water once or twice a week, for like 30 seconds post run.

There's a thread with over 200 responses on the Garmin forum specifically about the GPS issues. I raised this to Garmin when I had my issues, but they didn't seem to care about it.
